Kassanda District is a district in Central Uganda. [1] [2]

Location

Kassanda District is bordered by Mubende District to the west, Kyankwanzi District to the north, Kiboga District to the northeast, Mityana District to the east and southeast, and Gomba District to the south.

Mubende is a district in the Central Region of Uganda. The town of Mubende is the site of the district headquarters. The district was reduced in size in July 2005 with the creation of the Mityana District and reduced again in 2019 when Kassanda District was carved out of it.

German submarine U-533 was a Type IXC/40 U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 17 February 1942 at the Deutsche Werft yard at Hamburg as yard number 351, launched on 11 September 1942 and commissioned on 25 November 1942 under the command of Kapitänleutnant Helmut Hennig. After training with the 4th U-boat Flotilla in the Baltic Sea, U-533 was transferred to the 10th flotilla for front-line service on 1 May 1943, and sunk in the Gulf of Oman on 16 October with one survivor.

George William Thembo Nyombi is a Ugandan economist and politician. He is the executive director Uganda Communications Commission a position he assumed on 24 November 2023 and a former State Minister for Information Technology in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. He replaced Alintuma Nsambu, who was dropped from the Cabinet. Prior to that, he served as the State Minister for Luweero Triangle in the Office of the Prime Minister, from 2009 until 2011. Nyombi Thembo is also a former Member of Parliament (MP), for "Kassanda County South", Mubende District. He has continuously represented the constituency since 2001.

Kabuye Frank Kibirige is a Ugandan politician, farmer, humanitarian and businessman. He is a member of parliament for Kasanda South constituency in Kasanda District, in Uganda's Central Region in the 11th parliament of the Republic of Uganda. He is the deputy youth leader for greater Mubende under the People Power movement in National Unity Platform political party.
