The GreenLine or Line 4 is one of the two proposed lines of Coimbatore Metro, Phase 1 Project, the second being the Red line (Line 1). The line stretches from Coimbatore Junction to Valiyampalayam Pirivu. The line consists of 14 stations, [1] [2] .

The Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit (MRT) system serving the city of Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region in Maharashtra, India. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is the responsible authority for maintaining the metro system. Maha Metro is responsible for all the metro rail projects undergoing in Maharashtra except the Mumbai Metropolitan Area. The system is designed to reduce traffic congestion in the city, and supplement the overcrowded Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It is being built in three phases over a 15-year period, with overall completion expected in October 2026. Mumbai Metro is the sixth longest operational metro network in India with operational length of 46.4 km (28.8 mi) as of January 2023. When completed, the core system will comprise fourteen high-capacity metro railway lines and one metrolite line, spanning a total of 356.972 kilometres (221.812 mi), and serviced by 286 stations.
Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, India. It is the second longest operational metro network in India after Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the operational 64 metro stations of Namma Metro as of March 2023, there are 55 elevated stations, 8 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the 4th longest metro system in India. The system commenced service in 2015 after partially opening the first phase of the project. The current network consists of two colour-coded lines covering a length of 54 kilometres (34 mi). The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu built and operates the Chennai Metro. The system has a mix of underground and elevated stations and uses standard gauge. The services operate daily between 05:30 and 23:00 with a varying frequency of 2 to 8 minutes.
The Hyderabad Metro is a rapid transit system, serving the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is the third longest operational metro network in India after Delhi Metro and Namma Metro (Bengaluru), and the lines are arranged in a secant model. It is funded by a public–private partnership (PPP), with the state government holding a minority equity stake. Hyderabad Metro is the world's largest elevated Metro Rail system based on DBFOT basis. A special purpose vehicle company, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRHL), was established by the construction company L&T to develop the Hyderabad metro rail project.
Chandigarh Metro is an approved rapid transit system in the Chandigarh Capital Region which includes Chandigarh city and adjacent areas in Punjab and Haryana states of India. In phase-1, to be progressively built & operationalised between 2027 to 2037, 3 lines will connect tri-cities of Chandigarh, Mohali in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana. Phase-2, to be constructed after 2037, will connect Pinjore in Haryana and further expand the network in Mohali. The project, which was initially scrapped in 2017 due to low financial viability, was later approved in March 2023 and received formal clearances in July 2023 from the governments of Punjab and Haryana after a detailed project plan (DPR) was created.
Lucknow Metro is a mass rapid transit (MRT) system in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. The metro is owned and operated by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC). Construction of the line begun on 27 September 2014 with the 8.5 km (5.3 mi) stretch from Transport Nagar to Charbagh Railway Station which began its commercial operation on 5 September 2017. Full operation on Red Line stretch from CCS International Airport to Munshi Pulia began operation on 9 March 2019. The Lucknow metro project is the most expensive transport system in Uttar Pradesh to date with an estimated total cost for Phase 1A and 1B of about $2 billion, of which ₹6,928 crore (US$870 million) is being spent on phase 1A.
Urban rail transit in India plays an important role in intracity transportation in the major cities which are highly populated. It consists of rapid transit, suburban rail, monorail and tram systems. According to a report published in 2021, a total of 2.63 billion people travelled annually in metro systems across India's fifteen major cities, placing the country as one of the busiest urban rapid transit hubs in the world in terms of ridership. The combined length of 859 kilometres of metro systems in India makes it the fourth longest in operation in the world.
The Navi Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in the Indian city of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The planning and construction of the Navi Mumbai Metro is being overseen by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). The system is planned to consist of five rail lines covering a total distance of 106.4 kilometres (66.1 mi). The foundation stone for the project was laid on 1 May 2011; following construction delays, the metro's first line was projected to open in 2020. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused lockdowns, curfews, and lack of labour, which resulted in several delays in construction, the deadline is pushed to 2022 for completion of the first line of Navi Mumbai Metro. The metro's rolling stock are being provided by CSR Zhuzhou.
The Indore Metro is a rapid transit system which is under construction for the city of Indore, India. The total system consists of 11 corridors (lines) covering a distance of 124 kilometres (77 mi). This project will cost approximately ₹12,000 crore (US$1.5 billion). The cost per km will be 182 crores and total cost is 15,000 crores. The metro system will be elevated, underground and on ground. The Indore Metro project has been subject to serious contestation due to the inappropriate shifting of Seismic zone-II to Seismic zone-IV category which has led to increase in budgetary cost for the entire project.
Coimbatore is a city in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Most transportation in the city and suburbs is by road. Coimbatore is well-connected to most cities and towns in India by road, rail, and air, but not through waterways. The city has successful transport infrastructure compared to other Indian cities, though road infrastructures are not well maintained and developed according to the growing needs of transport, making traffic congestion a major problem in the city. A comprehensive transport development plan has been made to address many traffic problems.
Thiruvananthapuram Light Metro is a proposed Light Metro system in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the Indian state of Kerala.
Patna Metro (Patna MRTS) is a rapid transit system under construction (as of May 2023), in the city of Patna, India. Construction will be completed over five phases, and will be owned and operated by the state-run Patna Metro Rail Corporation. In the first phase, five stations of Patna Metro will be operational by March 2025. Patna MRTS, constructed under a Public Private Partnership mode, is estimated to cost ₹133,657.7 million (US$1.7 billion). This cost excludes land acquisition cost, which will be paid for by the Bihar government. The first phase (consisting of the east–west and north–south corridors) will include both a 23.30 km (14.48 mi) elevated track and a 16.30 km (10.13 mi) underground track.
Nagpur Metro is a rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Phase I of the metro project cost was estimated to cost ₹8,650 crore but the final project cost incurred was ₹9,279 crore (US$1.2 billion). In February 2014, the Government of Maharashtra gave approval for the Metro Project, while the Government of India's Ministry of Urban Development had given "In Principle" approval for the Project. On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of project, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone on 21 August on his visit to the city. Construction on the project began on 31 May 2015, with trial run beginning on 30 September 2017.
The Surat Metro is an under-construction rapid transit rail system for Surat in Gujarat state of India. Two corridors with a combined length of 40.35 kilometers are under construction since 18 January 2021. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027 at an estimated cost of ₹12,020.32 crore (US$1.5 billion).
Line 1 of the Navi Mumbai Metro is part of the rapid transit rail system for the city of Navi Mumbai, India. When fully completed, the 23.40 km fully-elevated line will consist of 20 metro stations from Belapur to Khandeshwar.
The Srinagar Metro is a light rail transit planned for the city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The plans for the Srinagar Metro have been finalised with the work expected to start once the project gets nod from union cabinet. The proposed network will have two corridors. Each corridor of Srinagar metro will have 12 stations each with the total cost expected to be ₹5,559 crore.

The Jammu Metro is a proposed light rail transit system for the city of Jammu in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The project has been proposed by the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and is estimated to cost Rs. 4825 crores in phase 1. The proposed system will have a total route length of 43.50 km, consisting of 4 lines and 22 stations, and will be completed in two phases. The expected completion date for the project is 2026.
The Red Line or Line 1 is one of the two proposed lines of Coimbatore Metro, Phase 1 Project, the second being the Green line. The line stretches from Ukkadam Bus Terminus to Neelambur. The line consists of 18 stations, out of which the Coimbatore Airport station has a spill off line.
