The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland is a Polish order of merit created in 1974, awarded to persons who have rendered great service to Poland. It is granted to foreigners or Poles resident abroad. As such it is sometimes referred to as a traditional "diplomatic order".

Orders, decorations, and medals of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia were created during the Second World War and used throughout the existence of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The first decorations were created by AVNOJ on August 15, 1943 and included the Order of the People's Hero, Order of the People's Liberation, Order of the Partisan Star, Order of the Brotherhood and Unity, Order for Bravery and Medal for Bravery. By 1960 the total number of decorations increased to 42 and consisted of 35 orders, 6 medals and 1 commemorative medal. The designers of the Yugoslav orders and medals were Antun Augustinčić and Đorđe Andrejević Kun.

The Hungarian Order of Merit is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946.
The system of orders and medals of the Republic of North Macedonia is regulated by the Law on Awarding Decorations and Recognitions of North Macedonia. The President of North Macedonia awards all orders and medals on behalf of the nation. Awards recommendations are received and reviewed by the Commission on Awarding Decorations and Recognitions, a 14-member body appointed by the president to assist him in carrying out the laws related to orders and decorations. Individuals and organizations, both Macedonian and foreign, are eligible for recognition by the state. Awards are made to recognize achievements in the fields of social, political, economic, or scientific-research works. Recognition may also be made for especially meritorious social and humanitarian aid. Other activities which may be recognized are contributions to the peaceful and stable development of North Macedonia, for contributions to democratic development, for outstanding achievements in work, or for great personal courage in defense of North Macedonia. Awards may be made posthumously.

State decorations of the Republic of Kosovo are regulated by the Law on Decorations. Decorations are divided into three grades: orders, medals and commemorative medals. The President also bestows the title of Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo to people who have made extraordinary contributions to the Republic of Kosovo. This is an honour bestowed very rarely with only nine recipients in the history of the Republic.
The Hungarian Cross of Merit is the fifth highest state decoration of Hungary. Until 2011, the order was awarded the called the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. A maximum of 250 awards from each class are permitted to be awarded to Hungarians per year.
