Cheshire East Council elections

Cheshire East Council elections are held every four years. Cheshire East Council is the local authority for the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. Since the last boundary changes in 2011, 82 councillors have been elected from 52 wards. [1]

Political control

Cheshire East was created on 1 April 2009 replacing Congleton, Crewe and Nantwich, Macclesfield and Cheshire County Council. [2] The first election to the new council was held in 2008, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 2009. Political control of the council since 2009 has been held by the following parties: [3] [4]

Changes of affiliation

Michael Jones (Bunbury) left the Conservative Party in September 2017. His later resignation from the council triggered the by-election on 22 March 2018. [12]

Kingston upon Hull is a unitary authority in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Until 1 April 1996 it was a non-metropolitan district in Humberside. Cheshire East Council is the local authority of the Borough of Cheshire East, Cheshire, England. It is a unitary authority, having the powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council combined. It provides a full range of local government services including Council Tax billing, libraries, social services, processing planning applications, waste collection and disposal, and it is a local education authority. The council was first elected on 1 May 2008, a year before coming into its powers on 1 April 2009. After an election in May 2019, no party holds overall control. The civil parish of Sandbach hosts the administrative headquarters for the council.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is the local authority for the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland in North Yorkshire, England. Until 1 April 1996 it was a non-metropolitan district in Cleveland, called Langbaurgh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Westminster City Council elections</span> Class of UK elections

Westminster City Council, the local authority of the City of Westminster in London, England, is elected every four years. Since the last boundary changes in 2002, 60 councillors have been elected from 20 wards. New boundary changes will come into effect for the 2022 elections, when the borough will be represented by 54 councillors in 18 three-member wards.

The 2004 Halton Borough Council election took place on 10 June 2004 to elect members of Halton Unitary Council in Cheshire, England. The whole council was up for election with boundary changes since the last election in 2002. The Labour Party stayed in overall control of the council.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Laura Smith (British politician)</span> British Labour politician

Laura Smith is a British Labour Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Crewe and Nantwich from 2017 to 2019. In 2017, she defeated the incumbent Conservative Edward Timpson by 48 votes, before losing her seat at the 2019 general election.

The 2022 Hounslow London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 62 members of Hounslow London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom.
