The first Court House of Monmouth County was erected in 1714–1715. This was a small wooden building and remained in use until a second courthouse was built in 1719, which was used until 1727 when it was destroyed by fire. In 1730-1731 a new court house and jail were erected on the same site. This building was used for 75 years and is the one which was made historic by the Battle of Monmouth as it is said that Gen. Washington made his headquarters in that building. [4] The building was replaced in 1806-1809 by a new structure at a cost of $28,000. The fifth courthouse was built in 1855 and burned in October 1873. [5]

It served as the sixth courthouse, built according to the plans of the previous courthouse with alterations approved by Austin H. Patterson (who served on Board of Chosen Freeholders and in the New Jersey State Assembly). The clock in the tower was procured by funds raised by subscriptions and placed in the building which was erected in 1874. The building was damaged by fire in 1930 and restored in 1931. [7] The architect was Leon Cubberley. The two-story structure faces south, on which side there is a one-story extended porch. From the hipped roof is a square white colored clock tower. In 1954 became the Hall of Records when the present Monmouth County Courthouse was erected.

Rockingham is a historic house that was the home of John Berrien (1711–1772) and George Washington's final headquarters of the Revolutionary War. It is located at 84 Laurel Avenue, Franklin Township in Somerset County, New Jersey. The house was originally located on the hillside east of the Millstone River at Rocky Hill. It has been moved within southern Franklin Township several times, and is now closer to Kingston than to Rocky Hill. The residence is a featured part of the Millstone River Valley Scenic Byway. The oldest portion of the house was built as a two-room, two-story saltbox style house c. 1710; a kitchen and additional rooms were added on in the early 1760s, expanding with the Berrien family. The first reference to the house as "Rockingham" does not appear until a 1783 newspaper advertisement to sell the house, a name given most likely in honor of the Marquess of Rockingham.
Monmouth Battlefield State Park is a 1,818-acre (7.36 km2) New Jersey state park located on the border of Manalapan and Freehold Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. This park preserves the historical battlefield on which the American Revolutionary War's Battle of Monmouth (1778) was waged. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in military history.
Journal Square is a business district, residential area, and transportation hub in Jersey City, New Jersey, which takes its name from the newspaper Jersey Journal whose headquarters were located there from 1911 to 2013. The "square" itself is at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenue. Covenhoven House is located in Freehold Borough, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1752–53 by William and Elizabeth Covenhoven. The builder of the historic Old Tennent Church was retained for the job, and began work right after the completion of the church. In 1778, General Henry Clinton occupied this house as his headquarters from June 26 to the morning of June 28th, prior to the Battle of Monmouth that day.
The Village Inn, also known as the Davis Tavern, is located at the corner of Water and Main Streets in the borough of Englishtown in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The oldest section of the building dates to 1732. It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1936, with addendum in 1984. The tavern was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1972, for its significance in architecture and military history.
Old Tennent Church is a Presbyterian church located at 450 Tennent Road in the Tennent neighborhood of Manalapan, New Jersey. The congregation was founded in 1692 and played a prominent role in the founding of Presbyterianism in America. The current edifice was completed in 1753 and was named in memory of pastors John Tennent and his brother William Tennent. The Old Tennent Cemetery is located on the same property.
Monongalia County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located in Morgantown, Monongalia County, West Virginia. The courthouse was erected in 1784 with the current structure built in 1891. This Romanesque style building consists of a two-story building with a basement, five-story clock tower and a three-story South tower. The building measures at 99’ by 83’ by 99’ by 76’ with the first story at fifteen feet high and the second story at twenty-two feet high. The distinctive central clock tower has a pyramidal roof, four doomed buttresses, stone molds over the four clocks and tower windows, arcade belfry, and quatrefoil design with the building date. The original northern facade was covered by an addition built in 1925 with another addition built in 1975. Connected to the courthouse is a two-story Italianate style jailhouse built in 1881.

George Taylor House is in Freehold Borough, Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States on the corner of Broadway and Dutch Lane Road across from Freehold High School. The house was built in circa 1870 by George Taylor, the son of John G. Taylor and Cary Conover Taylor. John G. Taylor was of Scottish ancestry, while Cary Conover was of Dutch ancestry. John G. Taylor was the proprietor of Taylors Mills, a successful family business that George continued to run in his father's footsteps. The grist mill was successful during the mid-late 19th century, as new markets were opening up with the advent of extensive railroad networks.
