The 2024 Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council election will take place on 2 May 2024 to elect members of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in Hertfordshire, England. [1] This will be on the same day as other local elections across England and Hertfordshire's Police and Crime Commissioner election.
As is typical for Welwyn Hatfield's local elections, sixteen seats of the forty-eight total will be contested. Of these sixteen, fourteen are Conservative seats and two are Liberal Democrat seats. Prior to the election no party held an outright majority of seats on the council, with a Liberal Democrat and Labour party coalition having formed after the 2023 local elections. [2] [3] The Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Labour and the Green Party have put forth candidates for all contested seats, with Reform UK additionally contesting seven of these seats and no independent candidates standing for any seat.

Welwyn Hatfield is a local government district with borough status in the county of Hertfordshire, England. Its council is based in Welwyn Garden City. The borough borders Hertsmere, St Albans, North Hertfordshire, East Hertfordshire, Broxbourne, and the London Borough of Enfield.
Hertsmere is a local government district with borough status in Hertfordshire, England. Its council is based in Borehamwood. Other settlements in the borough include Bushey, Elstree, Radlett and Potters Bar. The borough contains several film studios, including Elstree Studios and the BBC Elstree Centre at Borehamwood. The borough borders Three Rivers, Watford, St Albans, and Welwyn Hatfield in Hertfordshire and the three north London boroughs of Harrow, Barnet and Enfield. Hertsmere is located mainly within the M25 Motorway.
