Aberdeen City Council is the local government authority for the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. It was created in 1996, under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994, though a sense of Aberdeen as a city, with its own city council, can be traced back to 1900, when the county of the city of Aberdeen was created.
Elections for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) were held in Palestinian Autonomous areas from 1994 until their transition into the State of Palestine in 2013. Elections were scheduled to be held in 2009, but was postponed because of the Fatah–Hamas conflict. President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to stay on until the next election, but he is recognized as president only in the West Bank and not by Hamas in Gaza. The Palestinian National Authority has held several elections in the Palestinian territories, including elections for president, the legislature and local councils. The PNA has a multi-party system, with numerous parties. In this system, Fatah is the dominant party.
The Council of Representatives, usually referred to simply as the Parliament, is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Iraq. According to the Constitution of Iraq, it is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of the country. As of 2020, it comprises 329 seats and meets in Baghdad inside the Green Zone.
The 2007 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 3 May 2007. These elections took place in most of England and all of Scotland. There were no local government elections in Wales though the Welsh Assembly had a general election on the same day. There were no local government elections in Northern Ireland. Just over half of English councils and almost all the Scottish councils began the counts on Friday, rather than Thursday night, because of more complex arrangements regarding postal votes.
Elections to the Swiss Federal Assembly, the federal parliament of Switzerland, were held on Sunday, 21 October 2007. In a few cantons, a second round of the elections to the Council of States was held on 11 November, 18 November, and 25 November 2007. For the 48th legislative term of the federal parliament (2007–2011), voters in 26 cantons elected all 200 members of the National Council as well as 43 out of 46 members of the Council of States. The other three members of the Council of States for that term of service were elected at an earlier date.
Elections to Liverpool City Council were held on 3 May 2007. One third of the council was up for election and the Liberal Democrat party kept overall control of the council. Overall turnout was 27.5%
The 2008 United Kingdom local elections were held on 1 May 2008. These elections took place in 137 English Local Authorities and all Welsh Councils.
The 2007 Craven District Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Craven District Council in North Yorkshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the council stayed under no overall control.
Elections to Rochford Council were held on 3 May 2007. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council.
Elections to Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council were held on 3 May 2007. One third of the council was up for election and the council stayed under no overall control.
The 2007 Thurrock Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Thurrock Council in Essex, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party lost overall control of the council to no overall control.
The Highland Council, the political body covering the Highland local authority created in 1995, comprises 21 wards, each electing three or four councillors by the single transferable vote system, which creates a form of proportional representation. The total number of councillors is 74, and the main meeting place and main offices are at the Highland Council Headquarters in Glenurquhart Road, Inverness.
Elections to Dacorum Borough Council in Hertfordshire, England were held on 3 May 2007. The whole council was up for election with boundary changes since the last election in 2003 reducing the number of seats by one. The Conservative Party remained in overall control of the council after winning 44 of the 51 seats which they partly attributed to national events, while the Liberal Democrats lost 2 seats but were pleased to become the official opposition.
The 2007 Winchester Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Winchester District Council in Hampshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative Party stayed in overall control of the council.
The 2007 West Lancashire District Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of West Lancashire District Council in Lancashire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council.
Elections to the Council of the metropolitan borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England were held on 5 May 2011. One third of the council was up for election, with each successful candidate serving a four-year term of office, expiring in 2015. The Conservative Party retained overall control of the council.
Elections to South Cambridgeshire District Council took place on Thursday 3 May 2007, as part of the 2007 United Kingdom local elections. Nineteen seats, making up one third of South Cambridgeshire District Council, were up for election. Seats up for election in 2007 were last contested at the 2004 election, when all seats were up for election due to new ward boundaries, and were next contested at the 2011 election. The Conservative Party gained an overall majority on the council for the first time.
The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) is the unicameral legislature of the Palestinian Authority, elected by the Palestinian residents of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It currently comprises 132 members, elected from 16 electoral districts of the Palestinian Authority. The PLC has a quorum requirement of two-thirds, and since 2006 Hamas and Hamas-affiliated members have held 74 of the 132 seats in the PLC. The PLC's activities were suspended in 2007 and remained so as of November 2023, while PLC committees continue working at a low rate and parliamentary panel discussions are still occurring.
The 2015 City of York Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of City of York Council in England. The whole council was up for election. Turnout was substantially up across the city due to the election being held on the same day as the general election and other local elections in England.
The 2007 Reading Borough Council election was held on 3 May 2007, at the same time as other local elections across England and Scotland. Sixteen of the 46 seats on Reading Borough Council were up for election, being the usual third of the council plus a by-election in Church ward where Labour councillor Azam Janjua had resigned. Labour lost seven seats on the council, with the Conservatives gaining six seats and the Liberal Democrats one seat. Despite these losses, Labour retained a majority on the council.
