1 BBC One sees in the New Year with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who performs and hosts a "New Year Disco". [1]
Ross Kemp will reprise his role as EastEnders character Grant Mitchell to coincide with the programme's 40th anniversary. [2]
Details of the most-watched television events of the decade so far are released. In first place is Boris Johnson's 23 March 2020 Downing Street address at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, watched by 28.3 million viewers. This is followed by an address given by Johnson on 10 May 2020, watched by 27.6 million. In third place is the state funeral of Elizabeth II on 19 September 2022 (26.5 million), followed by Elizabeth II's COVID-19 address on 5 April 2020 (24.5 million), and the UEFA Euro 2020 final on 11 July 2021 (22.5 million). Joel Dommett and Ellie Taylor are crowned the winners of the Gladiators Celebrity Special after beating Rob Beckett and Louise Minchin. [4]
All Wrestling Programmes move to Netflix after a number of years on their dedicated sport channels. The WWE Network closes down coincidently.
2A new Gavin & Stacey clip showing scenes from a long-discussed fishing trip that was a running joke throughout the series is released. [5]

    Survivor is a British adventure reality game show based on the international Survivor format. Following the premise of other versions of the Survivor format, the show features a group of contestants, referred to as "castaways" as they are marooned in an isolated location. The castaways must provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves. The contestants compete in various challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination. The contestants are progressively eliminated from the game as they are voted off the island by their fellow castaways. The final castaway remaining is awarded the title of "Sole Survivor" and a large monetary prize.

    U&Dave is a British free-to-air television channel that mainly broadcasts comedy-oriented factual programming. It is owned by UKTV, a subsidiary of BBC Studios.

    <i>Big Brother</i> (British TV series) British version of the Big Brother television series

    Big Brother is the British version of the international reality television franchise Big Brother created by producer John de Mol Jr. in 1997. Broadcast yearly from 18 July 2000 to 5 November 2018, and returned on 8 October 2023, the show follows the format of other national editions, in which a group of contestants, known as "housemates", live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. Live television cameras and personal audio microphones continuously monitor them. Throughout the competition, housemates are "evicted" from the house by public televoting. The last remaining housemate wins the competition and a cash prize. The series takes its name from the oppressive character known by that name in George Orwell's 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

    Patrick Joseph McGuinness is an English comedian, actor, writer, and television and radio presenter. He rose to fame with the help of fellow comedian Peter Kay, who invited him to appear on the television comedy series That Peter Kay Thing (2000), and the sitcoms Phoenix Nights (2000–2001) and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere (2004). McGuinness went on to present various television shows, including Take Me Out (2010–2019), 71 Degrees North (2011), Paddy's TV Guide (2013), Top Gear (2019–2022), I Can See Your Voice (2021–2022), and Question of Sport (2021–2023).

    <i>Neighbours</i> Australian soap opera (1985–present)

    Neighbours is an Australian television soap opera that has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap Sons and Daughters. Although successful in Melbourne, Neighbours underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. Neighbours became the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame.

    Chelsea Jade Healey is an English actress. She is known for portraying the roles of Janeece Bryant in the BBC school-based drama series Waterloo Road, Honey Wright in the BBC medical drama series Casualty (2014–2015) and Goldie McQueen in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks (2016–present). She has also appeared as a contestant on the ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing (2011) and the seventeenth series of Dancing on Ice (2025).

    "New Lands, New Beginnings" is the 38th episode of the tenth series of the UK medical drama Holby City. It was written by the programme's creator, Tony McHale, directed by Fraser Macdonald, and premiered on BBC Scotland on 23 June 2008.

    <i>The Voice UK</i> British talent competition series

    The Voice UK is a British singing reality competition television series. Created by John de Mol and Roel van Velzen, it premiered on BBC One on 24 March 2012. Based on the original Dutch singing competition The Voice of Holland, and part of The Voice franchise, it has aired twelve series and aims to find currently unsigned singing talent contested by aspiring singers, drawn from public auditions. Presented by Emma Willis since 2014, it was previously presented by Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates from 2012 to 2013 and Marvin Humes from 2014 to 2016. The winners receive a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Winners of each series have been: Leanne Mitchell, Andrea Begley, Jermain Jackman, Stevie McCrorie, Kevin Simm, Mo Adeniran, Ruti Olajugbagbe, Molly Hocking, Blessing Chitapa, Craig Eddie, Anthonia Edwards, Jen & Liv and AVA.

    Ross Richard "Rylan" Clark is an English broadcaster and television personality. He came to prominence as a contestant on the ninth series of the television talent show The X Factor in 2012, which he finished in fifth place. The following year, he appeared on the eleventh series of the reality television show Celebrity Big Brother, which he won.
