Digital Catapult is the UK innovation agency for advanced digital technology, developed in conjunction with Innovate UK (former Technology Strategy Board) as part of the Catapult centres. Digital Catapult works with startups, industries, investors, public sector and academia to accelerates the adoption of new and emerging technologies, with the aim of driving regional, national and international growth for UK businesses across the economy.
Neil Crockett was Digital Catapult's founding CEO, serving from January 2013 to June 2016.
He was succeeded by Jeremy Silver in June 2016, who served as chief executive officer for three years. [1]
The current CEO is Susan Bowen, who took over from Silver in March 2024. [2]
Digital Catapult focuses on how digital technologies are applied in areas including supply chains, digital infrastructure and cyber-physical systems, acting in a similar way to a business incubator. It's technology expertise includes artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, distributed systems, immersive technology (AR, VR), telecommunications (5G), quantum computing and the Internet of things.
It offers organisations accelerator programmes, consultancy, collaborative research & development, and the setup and operation of testbed facilities. A few of the SLT seem to be open to work on LinkedIn, which could signal organisational change.
Digital Catapult has centres supporting regions across the UK, based in London, Sunderland, Belfast and Bristol.
Digital Catapult [3] is located in the London Borough of Camden, at 101 Euston Road, opposite the British Library and close to St Pancras railway station.
Digital Catapult NETV [4] is based out of Sunderland in North East England, and runs the NETV Immersive Lab [5] at PROTO [6] in Gateshead.

Ali Hossaini is an American artist, philosopher, theatrical producer, television producer, and businessperson. In 2010, The New York Times described him as a "biochemist turned philosopher turned television producer turned visual poet". In 2017 Hossaini published the Manual of Digital Museum Planning and subsequently became co-director of National Gallery X, a King's College London partnership that explores the future of art and cultural institutions. Prior to National Gallery X Hossaini worked with King's College to develop Connected Culture, an action research programme that tested cultural applications for 5G supported by Ericsson. As a working artist and producer, Hossaini's genre-spanning career includes installations, performances and hundreds of media projects. Since 2018 Hossaini has worked with security think tank Royal United Services Institute and, in a 2019 special edition of its journal, he assessed the threat from AI from the perspective of biology.

In the AI field, he is known for his work on large language models, distributed AI systems for networks and semantic communications. In the communication field, he has been at the heart of the development of small cells (4G), massive MIMO (5G) and large intelligent surfaces (6G) technologies. The Data Science Institute is a research institute at the Imperial College London founded in April 2014. The institute is one of five Global Institutes at Imperial College London, alongside the Institute of Global Health Innovation, Energy Futures Lab, Institute for Security Science and Technology, and the Grantham Institute - Climate Change and Environment.
The India Mobile Congress (IMC) is a digital technologies' forum in Asia consisting of a three-day international conference and a technology exhibition. The event is envisioned to be the "leading platform for India's start-up and technology ecosystem." Within the telecommunications and technology industry, IMC is claimed to be the "largest digital technology forum in Asia." The event is organized jointly by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India. The forum aims to be a platform for industry, businesses, regulators and policymakers to discuss and deliberate on critical issues affecting the growth of the telecom and technology sector. In its first two iterations, the IMC focused on transformative 5G technology and most of the booths showcased various use-cases and scenarios where 5G would play an important role; the exhibitors included service providers, OEMs and infrastructure providers.
Dimitra E. Simeonidou is a Professor of High Performance Networks at the University of Bristol. She works on the development of telecommunications networks, including 5G, and is a specialist in smart city infrastructures.
Jason Kingdon is a computer scientist and entrepreneur. He was previously CEO of Blue Prism and co-founder of several AI companies. He was co-founder of UCL's Intelligent Systems Lab where he introduced the use of a neural network in live financial forecasting, and co-founder and CEO of Searchspace, a company that applied AI to detect money laundering and detect insider dealing at banks and stock exchanges. In 2008, he joined Blue Prism as executive chairman. The company has been credited with creating the Robotic Process Automation market.
Daniel Hulme is a British businessman, investor, academic and commentator, working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), applied technology and ethics. He is the CEO and founder of Satalia that exited to WPP plc in 2021 where he is also Chief AI Officer. Hulme is also an angel investor in emerging technology companies. In 2024 Daniel co-founded Conscium, which is the world's first commercial AI research lab dedicated to the understanding of conscious AI and its implications for developing safe, efficient neuromorphic technologies that behave more like a biological brains.
