The 2013 Miami mayoral election took place on November 5, 2013, to elect the mayor of Miami, Florida. The election was officially nonpartisan, and held in conjunction with other city elections. Originally, City Commissioner Francis Suarez was running, however he ended his candidacy in August, months before the election. [1] Incumbent Tomás Regalado was reelected with over 78% of the vote against his three opponents, none of which got over 10% of the vote.

Xavier Louis Suarez is an American politician who was the first Cuban-born mayor of Miami and was a Miami-Dade county commissioner.
Carlos Álvarez is a Cuban American politician, and the former mayor of Miami-Dade County. He was first elected mayor in 2004, and re-elected in 2008. His mayoralty ended in March 2011 after a recall election. In both mayoral elections, he listed his party as "No Party Preference", but an article in The Christian Science Monitor described him as a member of the Republican Party.
Joseph Xavier Carollo is a Cuban-American politician who served as mayor of Miami from 1996 to 1997 and again from 1998 to 2001. Following his loss in the 2001 mayoral election, he served as Doral, Florida city manager from January 2013 until his firing in April 2014; he was reinstated in June 2017, then immediately resigned. He successfully ran for election to the Miami city commission in 2017.
Carlos Antonio Giménez is a Cuban-born American politician and retired firefighter serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 28th congressional district. He was redistricted from Florida's 26th congressional district. A Republican, he served as mayor of Miami-Dade County from 2011 to 2020. He served as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner from 2003 to 2011, and was the fire chief of the City of Miami Fire Department.
Tomás Pedro Regalado y Valdez is a Cuban American politician and former broadcast journalist who served as the 42nd mayor of Miami, Florida, from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Republican Party, although as Miami mayor his office was nonpartisan.

Miami Freedom Park is a 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium currently under construction in Miami, Florida, United States. It is planned to be the home of the Major League Soccer team Inter Miami CF. In spring of 2022, final approval was given by the city of Miami to build a stadium on the current site of the Melreese golf course, close to the Miami International Airport. The decision followed a long process in which numerous locations were considered for the stadium. The current plans would see the stadium opened for the 2025 MLS season.

Special elections were also held for one seat of the U.S. Senate, representing Alabama, and six seats of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Democrats picked up the governorship in New Jersey and the Alabama Senate seat that was up for a special election. The governorship in Virginia and the six House seats that were up for special elections did not change party hands.

A runoff election would have taken place on November 21, 2017, if no candidate had received a majority of votes in the general election. Francis Suarez won the election with almost 86% of the vote and little opposition, thus avoiding the runoff.

The 2016 Miami-Dade County mayoral election took place on November 8, 2016. After a primary on August 30, incumbent Mayor Carlos A. Giménez defeated Miami-Dade School Board member Raquel Regalado on November 8. The election was officially nonpartisan. The race was marred by controversy, including attempts by Regalado to take Giménez off the ballot and accusations that Giménez was responsible for flyers suggesting Regalado was in association with then Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Francis Xavier Suarez is an American lawyer and politician who is the 43rd and current mayor of Miami since November 2017. The son of former Miami mayor Xavier Suarez, he previously served on the Miami City Commission from 2009 to 2017.
The 2020 Miami-Dade County mayoral election was held on November 3, 2020, to determine the mayor of Miami-Dade County, Florida. County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava defeated fellow commissioner Esteban Bovo. Incumbent Mayor Carlos A. Giménez, first elected in 2011, was term-limited; instead running for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Florida's 26th congressional district.
The 1996 Metro-Dade County mayoral election took place on September 1, 1996. It was the first election in the Metro Dade County area since the election of Stephen P. Clark. The election pitted various well-known and popular figures in the Miami-Dade area. Maurice Ferre and Xavier Suarez and former rivals in the 1987 Miami Mayor race, Arthur Teele and young former Hialeah City Councilman Alex Penelas along with several other minor candidates. County Commissioners Arthur Teele and Alex Penelas went on to the run-off. Penelas's victory made him the first Cuban-American mayor in Dade County and as of 2020, the only Democrat Cuban-American. Penelas also has the distinction of being the youngest mayor elected in Miami Dade County history at the age of 34. Arthur Teele was the first African American man to run for Dade County mayor.
The 2021 Miami mayoral election was held on November 2, 2021, to elect the mayor of Miami, Florida. The election was officially nonpartisan. If no candidate received a majority of the vote in the first ballot, the top two candidates would have advanced to a runoff election on November 16, 2021.
