The majority of Indonesia's railways are on Java, used for both passenger and freight transport. There are three noncontinuous railway networks in Sumatra while two new networks are being developed in Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Indonesia has finalized its plan for a national railway network recently. According to the plan, 3,200 km of train tracks will crisscross the islands of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. It has been touted as the most extensive railway project in Indonesia since its independence from the Dutch in 1945. Indonesia targets to extend the national railway network to 10,524 kilometres by 2030. As of September 2022, the network spans 7,032 km.
Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport is a domestic airport serving the city of Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, and surrounding areas. It is located in the region KM.10 Talang Betutu District. It is named after Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (1767–1852), the last Sultan of Palembang.

Tanah Abang Station (THB) is a railway station located in Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. The station located to the east of West Flood Canal, and serves Rangkasbitung and Cikarang Loop lines of KRL Commuterline. The station and the canal are only separated by a small, narrow embankment and as such, Tanah Abang station is prone to flooding, especially during the heavy rain season.

The elevated level tracks are used by trains between Jakarta Kota and Tanjung Priuk, as the Tanjung Priuk Line. The ground tracks are used by trains going to Cikarang as the Cikarang Loop Line. This station has been hit by floods numerous times.

It is the first practical modern light rapid system to operate in Indonesia. It was also the first rail line as a rapid transit system in the country.

Metland Telagamurni Station (MTM) is a class III railway station located in Telagamurni, West Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, serving the town of Cikarang. The station, which is located at an altitude of +18 meters, is included in the Operational Area I Jakarta of Kereta Api Indonesia and only serves the KRL Commuterline. As of 2023, Kota Padang Station is the only railway station located in Bengkulu province.
