El Hadj Amadou Dia Bâ is a retired Senegalese athlete who competed in the 400 metres hurdles. He won the 1988 Olympic silver medal in this event with a personal best time of 47.23 seconds. It was the first, and only Olympic medal for Senegal. He competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1984.

She won silver medals in that event at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart. She also won the 400 metres hurdles at the World Cup in 1989 and 1992. Her best time for the event of 52.79 seconds (1993), is the former U.S. record. That performance once ranked her second on the world all-time list, and as of 2024, ranks her 15th on the world all-time list.
Tatyana Mikhailovna Ledovskaya is a retired athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres hurdles. She represented the Soviet Union and later Belarus, training in Minsk.

Harouna Garba is a Nigerien track hurdler. Garba represented Niger at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 400 m hurdles. He ran in the first heat against six other athletes, including Bershawn Jackson of the United States, who eventually won in this heat. He finished the race in last place by six seconds behind Portugal's Edivaldo Monteiro, with his personal best time of 55.14. Garba, however, failed to advance into the semi-finals, as he placed twenty-fifth overall, and ranked below three mandatory slots for the next round.
Androula Sialou is a retired Cypriot athlete who specialised in the 400 metres hurdles. She represented her country at the 2004 Summer Olympics reaching the semifinals. She is the Cypriot national record holder for the event with her personal best of 54.76 seconds.

Highlights included an Asian record of 6.51 seconds by Vitaliy Savin in the men's 60 metres.

Yanique Haye-Smith is a Jamaican born Turks and Caicos islander track and field athlete specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. Haye-Smith represented Jamaica until November 2018, when she switched allegiance to Turks and Caicos. She represented Turks and Caicos at the 2019 World Athletics Championships. Haye-Smith competed for Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
