Synth-pop is a music genre that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk. It arose as a distinct genre in Japan and the United Kingdom in the post-punk era as part of the new wave movement of the late 1970s.
It showcased the band's signature keyboards with a hint of New Wave vibe.

value (help)Peter Hook & The Light concerts will take to the road across the United States and Canada in August and September 2022 for the tour "Joy Division: A Celebration," honoring the iconic British rock and new wave band. Hook was the bassist and co-founder of the band led by vocalist Ian Curtis and later New Order which formed after Curtis took his own life in 1980.
Ninety minutes later, British new wave icons Pet Shop Boys took the Mojave stage in front of a much smaller but undeniably devoted crowd.
