It is 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north-west of Mistusinne, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north-west of Douglas Provincial Park, and 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) south-east of Loreburn. The village got its name from its position on the elbow of the South Saskatchewan River.
