The 1964 United States presidential election in Michigan took place on November 3, 1964, as part of the 1964 United States presidential election. Voters chose 21 [3] representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.

Contents

Michigan was won by incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson (DTexas), with 66.70% of the popular vote, against Senator Barry Goldwater (RArizona), with 33.10% of the popular vote. [4] [5] As of the 2020 presidential election , this is the last election in which Livingston County, Allegan County, Antrim County, Grand Traverse County, Midland County, Ionia County, St. Joseph County, Barry County, Newaygo County, Hillsdale County, Emmet County, and Otsego County voted for the Democratic candidate. Kent County would not vote Democratic again until it backed Obama in the 2008 United States presidential election. This is also the best Democratic performance in a presidential election in Michigan to date.

Michigan's 4th congressional district is a United States congressional district located in the state of Michigan. The current 4th district contains much of Michigan's old 2nd district, and includes all of Allegan and Van Buren counties, as well as portions of Ottawa, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, and Berrien counties. In 2022, the district was redrawn to start in St. Joseph Township and extend north to Port Sheldon Township. The 4th is currently represented by Republican Bill Huizenga, who previously represented the old 2nd district.

Michigan's 2nd congressional district is a United States congressional district in Western Michigan. The current 2nd district contains much of Michigan's old 4th congressional district, and includes all of Barry, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Ionia, Isabella, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo, Oceana, and Osceola counties, as well as portions of Eaton, Kent, Midland, Muskegon, Ottawa and Wexford counties. Republican John Moolenaar, who had previously represented the old 4th district, was re-elected to represent the new 2nd in 2022.

The President Ford Field Service Council is a field service council of the Michigan Crossroads Council (MCC), a local council of the Boy Scouts of America.
