Elections to the European Parliament took place in Slovakia on 24 May 2014. It was the third European election which took place in Slovakia.

Thirteen MEPs were elected from Slovakia using a proportional list system joining the other candidates elected as part of the wider 2014 European Parliament election

The 'faster processing of interim results' was promised by the Slovak Office for Statistics because of a new electronic counting system. [2]

Turnout, at 13% of registered voters, was the lowest across the EU.

Winning party left-wing populist Smer-SD won 4 seats (Monika Beňová, Vladimír Maňka, Monika Smolková, Boris Zala, leader of Smer-SD in this election - Maroš Šefčovič became again European commissioner from Slovakia), Christian democratic KDH with 2 seats (Anna Záborská, Miroslav Mikolášik ), also liberal conservatives from SDKÚ-DS had 2 seats (Eduard Kukan, Ivan Štefanec), and 1 seats won conservative coalition NOVA-KDS-OKS (Jana Žitňanská, leader of united list of conservatives was Jozef Kollár but he wasn't elect), populist OĽaNO (Branislav Škripek, leader of list OĽaNO was Jozef Viskupič but he wasn't elect), liberal SaS (Richard Sulík, Ján Oravec as leader of list SaS wasn't elect), Hungarian minority conservative party SMK-MKP (Pál Csáky) and also Hungarian minority but more liberal and anti-Orbán party Most-Híd (József Nagy, Zsolt Simon as leader wasn't elect).

Most–Híd 2023 is an inter-ethnic political party in Slovakia. Its programme calls for greater cooperation between the country's Hungarian minority and ethnic Slovak majority. It was one of four parties in the Fico III government coalition, but lost all its seats in the National Council in the 2020 Slovak parliamentary election.

Slovakia, known as Ordinary People and Independent Personalities until 2023, is a conservative political party in Slovakia. Amidst a major corruption scandal involving local center-right politicians, former Prime Minister Robert Fico's Direction – Social Democracy won an absolute majority of seats.

Parliamentary elections were held in Slovakia on 5 March 2016 to elect the 150 members of the National Council. The ruling left-wing populist Direction – Social Democracy (SMER–SD) party remained the strongest party, but lost its majority. The Slovak Democratic and Christian Union – Democratic Party (SDKÚ-DS), which led the government between 2000–06 and 2010–12, was defeated heavily, failing to cross the electoral threshold and losing its representation in the National Council. The centre-right Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) also failed to cross the threshold for the first time since 1990, whilst the far-right nationalist Kotleba – People's Party Our Slovakia (ĽSNS) entered parliament for the first time.

Eduard Heger is a Slovak politician, who served as the Prime Minister of Slovakia from 1 April 2021 to 15 May 2023. He previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Igor Matovič. Heger was a member of the presidium of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) party which he left in March 2023 to take over the extra-parliamentary Blue Coalition party, subsequently rebranded as Democrats.

It was founded in 2020 by dissidents from Direction – Social Democracy (Smer) led by former prime minister Peter Pellegrini. In October 2022, it was admitted as an associate member of the Party of European Socialists (PES), although its membership was later suspended in October 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Slovak parliamentary election</span>

Early parliamentary elections were held in the Slovak Republic on 30 September 2023 to elect members of the National Council. Regular elections were scheduled to be held in 2024. However, on 15 December 2022 the government lost a no-confidence vote. Subsequently, the National Council amended the Constitution so that an early election could be held on 30 September 2023. This was the first snap election in the country since 2012.

The Hungarian Alliance is a political party in Slovakia for the ethnic Hungarian minority, previously known simply as the "Alliance", it was founded when "Party of the Hungarian Community" and Most–Híd merged into "Hungarian Community Togetherness". It is led by former SMK-MKP leader, Krisztián Forró.
