The 2024 European Parliament election in Lithuania were held on 9 June 2024 as part of the 2024 European Parliament election. This was the first to take place after Brexit. [2]
Lithuania will elect 11 Members of the European Parliament. [3]
Two out of the eleven incumbents opted not to seek reelection: Aušra Maldeikienė, of the TS-LKD, and Viktor Uspaskich from Labour, both citing personal reasons for their decision. [4]
The remaining nine incumbents, however, sought another term. Among them Andrius Kubilius, Rasa Juknevičienė, Liudas Mažylis, all from TS-LKD, Vilija Blinkevičiūtė and Juozas Olekas, representing the LSDP, Petras Auštrevičius (LRLS), and Bronis Ropė (LVŽS) expressed their desire to continue serving in parliament. Waldemar Tomaszewski, from the EAPL–CFA, had initially announced his retirement, [4] but ran for reelection regardless. Stasys Jakeliūnas, an independent politician, previously associated with the LVŽS, was ostracized by the party due to his stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. [5] Following this, Jakeliūnas switched party allegiances and ran on the LRP's list.
15 electoral lists were registered by the Central Election Commission on 7 May 2024. Two parties, the Lithuanian People's Party and the Lithuanian List, were unable to gather the required 10 thousand signatures, and one, Young Lithuania, withdrew from the race on their own accord. [6] The order of the ballot was determined by lot on 26 April 2024. [7]

Once the officials confirmed the results from Lithuania, it became clear that the Homeland Union maintained its status for the next term. It gained three seats, which is the same results as in 2019. It was fourth consecutive election to the European Parliament when Homeland Union won plurarity of the votes. The party is a member of the European People's Party.
In second place emerged the Social Democratic Party with two seats. The results remained stable. It is a member of the European Socialists. In third place finished the union of Farmers and Greens with a single mandate, a decrease by one from 2019. The party has been a member of the Greens/European Free Alliance since 2014 but connected with the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) this time.
The newly founded Freedom Party is following the list with one delegate. Formerly, it was part of the Liberals' Movement, which also gained a mandate. Both of the parties belong to ALDE, marking an increase in liberals from the country from 1 to 2 delegates in total.
The Union of Democrats and the Electoral Action of Poles got one mandate each as well. The first one is a member of the European Green Party, while the other later one is a member of the ECR. The People and Justice Union got a single delegate, however, as of 10 June 2024, the party co-founded Europe of Sovereign Nations.
Poor election results caused a crisis within the Labour Party and resignation of its leader, Andrius Mazuronis.
The Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, also colloquially known as the Conservatives, is a centre-right political party in Lithuania. It has 18,000 members and 28 of 141 seats in the Seimas. Its current leader is Gabrielius Landsbergis, who replaced Andrius Kubilius in 2015. It is a member of the European People's Party (EPP) and the International Democracy Union (IDU).
The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union is a green-conservative and agrarian political party in Lithuania led by Ramūnas Karbauskis. The party is considered one of the main representatives of the left wing of Lithuanian politics. Lithuanian journalist Virgis Valentinavičius described the party as "the mixture of the extreme left in economic matters and the extreme right in some social issues, all spiced up with an anti-establishment rhetoric of radical change".
The People and Justice Union is a right-wing populist political party in Lithuania. It is currently not represented in the Seimas. The chairman of the party is Petras Gražulis. Gražulis was impeached from the Lithuanian parliament in late 2023 and is not allowed, until 2033, to participate in any national elections.
The 2014 European Parliament election in Lithuania was an election of the delegation from Lithuania to the European Parliament in 2014. It was part of the wider 2014 European election.

Stasys Jakeliūnas is a Lithuanian politician. He was formerly a Member of the European Parliament (EP) for the populist Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union. Jakeliūnas has previously spent one incomplete term as MP at the Lithuanian Seimas, having been elected in 2016.
The National Alliance is a Lithuanian far-right political party founded on 7 March 2020 and led by philosopher Vytautas Radžvilas. As of 2024 the party holds 2 municipal council seats and 1 seat in Seimas, being represented by it's vice-chairman Vytautas Sinica.
Kęstutis Navickas is a Lithuanian politician and environmentalist. Navickas served as the Minister of Environment in the Skvernelis Cabinet from 2016 until 2018.

The Union of the Fighters for Lithuania, previously known as the Union for the President of Lithuania was a minor political party in Lithuania of an eclectic far-right political orientation which was founded in 2011. It replaced the Lithuanian Liberty Union. It did not achieve any notable electoral results and was liquidated by the Supreme Election Commission in 2022 for failing to provide a list of members.
Presidential elections were held in Lithuania on 12 May 2024, alongside a referendum on allowing multiple citizenships. Incumbent President Gitanas Nausėda won re-election to a second term. When candidate registrations closed before the election, the Lithuanian Central Election Commission had confirmed fifteen viable registrations; of those, twelve proceeded to collect signatures from the minimum 20,000 voters. Four of those contenders were later repudiated or dropped out, leaving eight on the ballot.
The Political Party "Dawn of Nemunas", often shortened simply as Dawn of Nemunas is a nationalist and populist political party in Lithuania. It was founded in November 2023 by Remigijus Žemaitaitis after his expulsion from the Freedom and Justice party due to his antisemitic statements. In June 2024, the party gained representation in the Seimas after three MPs joined; one formerly of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and two formerly of the Labour Party.
Laurynas Kasčiūnas is a Lithuanian right-wing politician, political analyst, Member of the Seimas for the Homeland Union and Minister of National Defence of Lithuania since 25 March 2024, replacing Arvydas Anušauskas.
