Lake Jasper is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. Central within the locality lies the lake of the same name while, in the south, it borders the Southern Ocean. A large part of the locality is taken up by the D'Entrecasteaux National Park; its south-eastern border runs along the Donnelly River. [2] [3] The north of Lake Jasper is taken up by agriculture, among them the large dairy farms of Lactanz 1 and 4, while Lactanz 2 and 3 are in the neighbouring locality of Scott River East. [4] Lactanz Dairy was Western Australia's largest dairy producer when it was sold for A$30 million in 2016 to Australian Agribusiness Group. [5]
Lake Jasper and the Shire of Nannup are located on the traditional land of the Bibulman and Wardandi people of the Noongar nation. [6] [7] [8] Scientific evidence proves a Noongar presence in the South West region for at least 47,000 years, while the oldest evidence for presence in the D'Entrecasteaux National Park dates back 6,000 years. [9]
The heritage listed Black Point on the Southern Ocean coast is located with the locality of Lake Jasper, an outcrop of the Bunbury Basalt, which is rarely exposed. It is an important scientific research site, [10] and dates back to 135 million years ago, when it was formed by a volcanic lava flow. [9]
The historic Jangardup Stock Route originally started in the north of the locality on the route heading north to what is now the Vasse Highway. It was last used as a stock route in the mid-1960s. [11] The heritage listed Quannup House, dating as far back as 1864, is also within the locality. [12]
Access to the locality and the lake has been historically difficult and underdeveloped. A 1944 newspaper report complained that to get to the lake for the purpose of exploring its potential to stock trout, a round trip of 100 miles (160 km) and a 2 miles (3.2 km) track through swamp had to be made, despite the fact that it was only 28 miles (45 km) from Pemberton. [13] Roads in the coastal region, especially within the national park, are still often four-wheel drive only and closed in winter because of rain. [9]
Lake Muir is a rural locality of the Shire of Manjimup in the South West region of Western Australia. The South Western Highway forms the south-western border of the locality while the Muirs Highway forms its northern one. Parts of Shannon National Park as well as most of Lake Muir National Park and all of Lake Muir and Boyndaminup National Park are located in the locality of Lake Muir.

Southampton is a rural locality of the Shire of Donnybrook–Balingup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Blackwood River and runs through the locality from its south-eastern corner to the north-west.

Cundinup is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. A small section in the far east of the locality is located in the Shire of Donnybrook–Balingup. The western boundary of the locality is formed by the Vasse Highway while, in the east, the border runs along the Blackwood River in places. Much of the locality is covered by state forest.

Scott River East is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia, located along the Scott River and on the Southern Ocean coast. The eastern part of the locality is covered by Hilliger National Park while a small section of the western-most part of D'Entrecasteaux National Park also extends into it. Apart from those two national parks, it is also home to a number of nature reserves. Parts of the locality are also taken up by agriculture, among them the large dairy farms of Lactanz 2 and 3, while Lactanz 1 and 4 are in the neighboring locality of Lake Jasper. The Vasse Highway runs north–south through the centre of the locality and the area west of the highway is almost completely made up of the Hilliger National Park while the Easter National Park lies along and east of the highway within Biddelia. Most of the remainder is covered by state forest.
Carlotta is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Vasse Highway runs through the centre of the locality, with the Easter National Park stretching along the east side of the highway. The south-western part of the locality is taken up by the Milyeannup National Park while the remainder is predominantly covered by state forest. Its north-western boundary is made up by the Brockman Highway and Nannup Airport is located in the north-west as well, inside the Kearney State Forest.
Darradup is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Brockman Highway runs through the centre of the locality while, to the east of it, the Milyeannup National Park makes up the south-eastern part of Darradup. The Blackwood River runs through the locality from east to west and the Blackwood River National Park stretches along it while the far northern part of Darradup is taken up by the Wiltshire-Butler National Park.
East Nannup is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Brockman Highway forms the northern boundary of the locality along its entire length. The western part of East Nannup is a mixture of farmland and forest while the eastern part is completely forested.
Peerabeelup is a rural locality of the Shire of Nannup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Vasse Highway runs through the centre of the locality from north to south, turning east towards Pemberton right at the southern boundary of the locality, while the Donnelly River flows through Peerabeelup from the east to the south-west. Along the south-eastern boundary of the locality, the Greater Beedelup National Park just stretches into Peerabeelup, as does a small section of the D'Entrecasteaux National Park on the south-western boundary. Most of the remainder of Peerabeelup is covered by state forest.

The Brockman Highway and the Blackwood River run through the locality from north-east to south-west. The eastern-most section of the Wiltshire-Butler National Park stretches into the west of Jalbarragup, as does a small northern section of the Milyeannup National Park at the southern boundary of the locality. Much of the remainder is covered by state forest.
Beedelup is a predominantly forested rural locality of the Shire of Manjimup in the South West region of Western Australia. The Vasse Highway forms the western and south-western border of the locality. Most of the Greater Beedelup National Park is located within Beedelup.
Broke is a rural locality of the Shire of Manjimup in the South West region of Western Australia, stretching along the coastline of the Southern Ocean. The South Western Highway forms the north-eastern border of the locality. Most of the locality as covered by national park, predominantly the D'Entrecasteaux National Park, except for the far east, which is covered by the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. The large Broke Inlet lies in the centre of Broke while, in the east, the locality lies on the shore of the Nornalup Inlet.
