Contents

Zoos are primarily dry facilities where animals are confined within enclosures and displayed to the public, and in which they may also be bred. Such facilities include zoos, safari parks, animal theme parks, aviaries, butterfly zoos, and reptile centres, as well as wildlife sanctuaries and nature reserves wear visitors are allowed.

Perth Zoo

Perth Zoo is a 41-acre (17 ha) zoological park in South Perth, Western Australia. The zoo first opened in 1898 and by 2011 housed 1258 animals of 164 species and an extensive botanical collection. It is a full institutional member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).

Village Roadshow Theme Parks

Village Roadshow Theme Parks is a division of Village Roadshow Limited which operates theme parks and attractions in Australia and the United States of America. The Sydney Attractions Group Pty Ltd was formerly part of Village Roadshow Theme Parks; however, it was sold in 2011 to Merlin Entertainments.

Robert Irwin is an Australian naturalist, animal conservationist, former zookeeper, and a pioneering herpetologist who is also famous for his conservation and husbandry work with apex predators and reptiles. He is the founder of the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park. He is the father of the late conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin. He continues to campaign for wildlife and its environment through his foundation, Bob Irwin Wildlife and Conservation Foundation Inc.

Australian Reptile Park

The Australian Reptile Park is located at Somersby on the Central Coast, New South Wales in Australia. It is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) North of Sydney, and is just off the M1 Pacific Motorway. The Park has one of the largest reptile collections in Australia, with close to 50 species on display. The wide variety of reptile species at the Park includes snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, Komodo dragons, American alligators and crocodiles.

Wild Life Sydney Wildlife park in the heart of the city of Sydney

Wild Life Sydney Zoo is a wildlife park in the Darling Harbour precinct, on the western edge of the Sydney central business district, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Opened in September 2006, the zoo is located adjacent to a leisure and retail precinct that includes the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Madame Tussauds Sydney.

Alma Park Zoo was a 40-acre (16 ha) zoo located north of Brisbane, Australia, in Dakabin on Alma Road. The small 20-acre (8.1 ha) park was filled with Australian and exotic species. Alma Park Zoo was the first zoo to open in Queensland and was the oldest zoo in Queensland.

Greater stick-nest rat

The greater stick-nest rat, also known as the house-building rat and wopilkara is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. They are about the size of a small rabbit and construct large nests of interwoven sticks. Once widespread across southern Australia, the population was reduced after colonisation to one island; the species has been reintroduced to protected and monitored areas.

Shambala Animal Kingdom

Shambala Animal Kingdom was a 53 hectares zoological park outside Kuranda, Queensland, Australia. The park was privately owned. It was formerly known as "Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve", "Mareeba Wild Animal Park" and "Out of Africa Reserve". After being purchased by a Sydney lawyer, the zoo was renamed "Shambala Animal Kingdom". The zoo was closed in April 2013 citing financial reasons.

Mogo Zoo

Mogo Wildlife Park is a small privately owned zoo in Mogo, on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is a member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ARAZPA) and has had success in breeding programs for endangered species, including the snow leopard, cotton-top tamarin, black-and-white ruffed lemur, red panda, and Sumatran tiger. The zoo has Australia's largest collection of primates. It is one of only two zoos in Australia that exhibits white lions. Unlike most small Australian zoos, Mogo Wildlife Park focuses on exotic species.

Cairns Tropical Zoo

Cairns Tropical Zoo was a 6-hectare (15-acre) tropical zoo in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It had a small collection of native and introduced species, and was a member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA). It was owned by the Freeman family.

Dreamworld Corroboree

Dreamworld Corroboree is a collection of wildlife attractions at the Dreamworld amusement park on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The area is divided into several subsections which allow guests to view the animals in their natural habitats. Dreamworld Corroboree is a registered zoo with 800 native and barnyard animals located within the Dreamworld grounds.
