The 2007 Virginia Senate election was held on 6 November 2007 to determine which party would control the Virginia Senate for the following four years in the 155th Virginia General Assembly. All 40 seats in the Virginia Senate were up for election. Prior to the election, 24 seats were held by Republicans and 16 seats were held by Democrats. The general election saw Democrats flip 5 seats, thereby gaining a majority in the State Senate for the first time since 1995. [1] [2]
