National Highway 70 (NH 70) was a National Highway in Northern India linking Jalandhar in Punjab to Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. After renumbering of all national highways by National Highway Authority of India in 2010, the old NH 70 has now been subsumed in new National Highway 3 (India) or NH 3 and there is no NH 70 now.
The highway was 170 km (110 mi) long, of which 50 km (31 mi) was in Punjab and 120 km (75 mi) was in Himachal Pradesh. [1]

Mandi is approximately 184.6 km (114.7 mi) from Chandigarh, the nearest major city, and 440.9 km (274.0 mi) from New Delhi, the national capital. In the 2011 Indian census, Mandi city had a population of 26,422. Mandi district is currently the 4th largest economy in the state. Mandi has the second highest sex ratio of 1013 females per thousand males, in the state.

National Highway 503, commonly referred to as NH 503, is a highway connecting the city of Dharamshala to Mubarakpur in Himachal Pradesh. NH503 has been extended from Mubarakpur to Kiratpur in Punjab. The route of NH503 is extended from Mataur Kangra to Mcleodganj Dharamshala.
Kotli Tungal (Kotli) is a small town in Himachal Pradesh, in northern India located along national highway 70 which connects Jalandhar to Mandi. It is 22 km (14 mi) from the town of Mandi, Kotli is a Sub Division and Tehsil of Mandi District. Kotli and the surrounding area are also known as Tungal Valley. The center of Tungal Valley is Kotli, where The NH 70 (003) from Mandi to Jalandhar passes through Kotli. Tungal Valley is covered with lush green forests of oak and cedar deodar. Rechara Dev Temple, Mahan Dev Temple, Kali Mata Temple, Janitri mata temple, Nagan mata mandir, Jhumba Ri Jogni Mata Temple are the main temples of the area. Jhumb dhar located at an altitude of 2,100 m (6,900 ft) from sea level is height peak of the area. Pahari and Hindi are spoken.

NH 505 is a high elevation road, covering the Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh, mainly running along the Spiti River in the Spiti Valley. The highway from Kaza to Gramphu remains closed for 6–9 months in a year due to heavy snowfall and the closure of Kunzum La pass at an elevation of 4,550 m (14,930 ft).
