World Martial Arts Games

Last updated

The World Martial Arts Games Committee, found July 27, 2005 by Alfred Kleinschwaerzer from Germany and Ken Marchtaler from Canada, is one of the top multi-disciplinary martial arts events worldwide. [1] The competition is held at a different location every year. [2] In 2011 the Games were held in two locations: The Pan American Martial Arts Games in Regina, Canada, and the European Martial Arts Games in Cheltenham, Great Britain. [2] They are a member of TAFISA. [3]

Martial arts are codified systems and traditions of combat practiced for a number of reasons such as self-defense; military and law enforcement applications; competition; physical, mental and spiritual development; and entertainment or the preservation of a nation's intangible cultural heritage.

With more than 270 members from over 150 countries on all continents, TAFISA aims to achieve an Active World by globally promoting and facilitating access for every person to Sport for All and physical activity.
