The 2025 Birmingham mayoral election will be held on August 26, 2025. Incumbent mayor, Democrat Randall Woodfin, is running for a third term as mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. [1]
Randall Woodfin was first elected in 2017, by 58%, against incumbent William A. Bell. [2] He was re-elected in 2021 with 64.33% of the vote. [3] Woodfin announced his re-election campaign in August 2023.
The 1984 United States Senate elections were held on November 6, with the 33 seats of Class 2 contested in regular elections. They coincided with the landslide re-election of President Ronald Reagan in the presidential election. In spite of the lopsided presidential race, Reagan's Republican Party suffered a net loss of two Senate seats to the Democrats, although it retained control of the Senate with a reduced 53–47 majority.

William A. Bell Sr. is an American politician who served as the 33rd mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, from 2010 to 2017. He had previously held the office on an interim basis in 1999. Prior to that, he had served several terms on the Birmingham City Council. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Walter Thomas Maddox is an American politician who has served as the 36th mayor of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, since 2005. From 2001 to 2005, he served on the Tuscaloosa City Council and as executive director of personnel for Tuscaloosa City Schools. Maddox was a field director for the Alabama Education Association from 1996 to 2001.

He was drafted by the Raiders in with the 28th overall pick in the 1984 NFL supplemental draft of USFL and CFL players. He played college football at Auburn University and attended A. H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Woods was also a member of the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Randall Woodfin is an American lawyer and politician who is the 34th and current mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, after winning the October 3, 2017, runoff against incumbent William A. Bell. He previously served as president of the Birmingham City School Board (2013–2015) and as a city attorney of Birmingham from 2009–2017.
The 2017 mayoral election in Birmingham, Alabama, took place on August 22, 2017, alongside municipal races for the Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Board of Education. In a field of twelve candidates, Randall Woodfin came in first ahead of incumbent William A. Bell. As neither reached the 50 percent threshold, a runoff election was held on October 3, 2017, when Woodfin was elected with over 58 percent of the vote.
