Cangyuan Washan Airport( IATA : CWJ, ICAO : ZPCW) is an airport serving Cangyuan Va Autonomous County in Lincang, Yunnan province, southwest China. The airport is located in Nuoliang Township and opened in December 2016.

History

Construction of the airport began on 20 December 2013, with an estimated total investment of 1.589 billion yuan. [1] Cangyuan Washan Airport opened on 8 December 2016 with the arrival of a Lucky Air flight from Kunming, the capital of the province. [2] The airport supports tourism in the county; it is closer than Lincang Airport, originally the only airport in Lincang, [3] to Wengding Wa village, a popular tourist attraction. [4]

Facilities

The airport has one runway that measures 2,600 by 45 metres (8,530 ft × 148 ft). It can handle 270,000 passengers and 1,080 tonnes (1,190 short tons) of cargo per year. [3]

Lalo is a Loloish language cluster spoken in western Yunnan, China by 300,000 speakers. Speakers are officially part of the Yi nationality, and Chinese linguists refer to it as "Western Yi" due to its distribution in western Yunnan. Lalo speakers are mostly located in southern Dali Prefecture, especially Weishan County, considered the traditional homeland of the Lalo. Historically, this area is the home of the Meng clan, who ruled the Nanzhao Kingdom (737–902 CE). Many speakers of Core Lalo dialects claim to be descendants of the Meng clan.

Danjia Township is a rural township in Cangyuan Va Autonomous County, Yunnan, China. It borders Mengsheng Town and Yanshuai Town in the north, Mengdong Town and Nuoliang Township in the west, Xuelin Township of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County in the east, and Mong Mau district of Burma in the south. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 11,080 and an area of 203.736-square-kilometre (78.663 sq mi).

Yanshuai Town is a rural town in Cangyuan Va Autonomous County, Yunnan, China. The town is bordered to the north by Gengma Dai and Va Autonomous County, to the east by Shuangjiang Lahu, Va, Blang and Dai Autonomous County and Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, to the south by Xuelin Township of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, to the west by Danjia Township and Mengsheng Town. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 32,486 and an area of 434.995-square-kilometre (167.953 sq mi).
