Comedy Central Hungary is the Hungarian version of Comedy Central. The channel broadcasts comedy oriented shows.

History

The Hungarian broadcast version started on October 1, 2008. [1] The broadcast was initially timesharing with VH1 (which aired between 2:00 AM and 2:00 PM). Based on the viewership data of the first two months of 2009, the channel achieved an average audience share of approximately 0.4% in prime time viewing in the 18-49 age group. [2] From May 1, 2009, the channel began to broadcast 24 hours a day and also VH1 also returned broadcasting 24 hours a day. [3]

Between November 3, 2017 and July 6, 2024, a companion channel named Comedy Central Family was available which broadcast shows more aimed at a family audience such as The King of Queens , Young Sheldon and Friends as well as some animated shows from Nickelodeon like Spongebob Squarepants and The Penguins of Madagascar .

BTV is the first private nationwide television channel in Bulgaria. It is operated by bTV Media Group, as part of Central European Media Enterprises, and is reportedly the Bulgarian television channel with the largest viewing audience. The channel is available on subscription services and as an unscrambled, free-to-air (FTA) satellite signal. On 31 March 2010, the channel re-adopted the name Nickelodeon on air and online, in addition to the new Nickelodeon logo and graphical package being rolled out internationally at the time. Despite the success of Nick at Nite in the United States, most international versions of Nickelodeon do not carry their own Nick at Nite programming block, as those local versions of Nickelodeon outside of the United States either carry children's programming 24 hours a day or run a non-Nick at Nite program block during the nighttime hours. While Nick at Nite's U.S. flagship primarily focuses on reruns of discontinued primetime network sitcoms, some of these international versions have aired reruns of discontinued Nickelodeon series.

In Belgium, the channel started on Monday, January 20, 2014, with the broadcast of a program block on the TMF channel, every day from 22 hours to 24 hours. As of November 1, 2015, it broadcasts 24 hours a day.

Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief was a charity telethon held on January 22, 2010, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The telethon was the most widely distributed telethon in history. The event was broadcast from Studio 36 at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens, New York and a private club, The Hospital, in London. There were also live reports from Haiti.
