Three hundred and thirty-nine scholars, artists, and scientists received Guggenheim Fellowships in 1973. [1] [2] [3] $3,852,600 was disbursed between the recipients, who were chosen from an applicant pool of 2,416. [4] [5] Of the 112 universities represented, University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University were tied for institution with the most winners on its faculty (16). Columbia University (15) were second in fellowships, followed by University of California, Los Angeles and Yale University in third. [2] [3]
