The University of Colorado Boulder, colloquially referred to as CU or Colorado, is a public research university in Boulder, Colorado. It is the flagship university of the University of Colorado system and was founded five months before Colorado was admitted to the Union in 1876.

The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a community college located in Aurora, Colorado, United States. It is part of the Colorado Community College System. CCA serves over 10,000 students annually at its CentreTech Campus in Aurora; Lowry Campus at Lowry, Denver; and through online classes. Efforts to establish a college in Aurora began with a group of Aurora citizens in the early 1950s, and in May 1983, the Fifty-Fourth Colorado General Assembly created the Community College of Aurora.
Aims Community College is a public community college serving northern Colorado with locations in Greeley, Windsor, Fort Lupton, and Loveland. Aims has more than 200 degree and certificate programs and provides day and night classes. Aims was founded in 1967 and the first class graduated in 1969. Aims started with one campus in Greeley and later expanded in 1984 to have another campus in Fort Lupton,, and in 1987 the Aims Loveland campus was established. The Aims Automotive and Technology Center, located in Windsor, opened in January 2010.
Colorado State University Global is an online public university that is a member of the Colorado State University System. Founded in 2007, CSU Global is headquartered in Aurora, Colorado. CSU Global offers online undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs. The university specializes in non-traditional, adult professional students and students who can't take part in a traditional campus setting.
Front Range Community College (FRCC) is a community college with multiple campuses in Colorado. It has campuses in Westminster, Longmont, and Fort Collins, as well as centers in Brighton and Loveland. It is the largest community college in Colorado and the most popular transfer institution for the University of Colorado-Boulder, Colorado State University, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and CSU Global. FRCC traces its heritage to the founding of the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education in 1967, which in 1968 established the North Campus of the Community College of Denver as its first new creation. In 1983 the North Campus was renamed as Front Range Community College and became an independent institution in 1985. In 1988, the Larimer County Voc-Tech Center was incorporated as the Larimer Campus of FRCC. The college is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission.
Lamar Community College is a public community college in Lamar, Colorado. Founded in 1937, it is the smallest member of the Colorado Community College System.

Dorothy Ann Ortner Horrell is an American educator, university administrator, and philanthropy administrator. Since 2016, she has held the post of Chancellor of University of Colorado Denver. She was previously president of both Red Rocks Community College and the Colorado Community College System, and president and CEO of the Bonfils–Stanton Foundation. In 2009, she was appointed by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to the Colorado State University Board of Governors, which she also served as chair for a two-year term. Active on the boards of many community organizations, she was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 2018.
