Huntley is a village in McHenry and Kane counties, Illinois, United States. As of the 2021 census it had a population of 28,008. [8] It is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area.
According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Huntley has a total area of 14.35 square miles (37.17 km2), of which 14.29 square miles (37.01 km2) (or 99.56%) is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2) (or 0.44%) is water. [9]

As of the 2020 census [13] there were 27,740 people, 12,113 households, and 7,823 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,932.83 inhabitants per square mile (746.27/km2). There were 11,702 housing units at an average density of 815.36 per square mile (314.81/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 82.38% White, 1.67% African American, 0.18% Native American, 5.55% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.96% from other races, and 7.23% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.31% of the population.
There were 12,113 households, out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.49% were married couples living together, 7.72% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.42% were non-families. 33.07% of all households were made up of individuals, and 25.96% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 2.26.
The village's age distribution consisted of 20.9% under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 19% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 34.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48.8 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $77,420, and the median income for a family was $94,495. Males had a median income of $67,701 versus $38,946 for females. The per capita income for the village was $39,735. About 2.9% of families and 6.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.0% of those under age 18 and 10.3% of those age 65 or over.

Huntley's economy has experienced major recent growth, through the construction of both businesses and distribution warehouses, particularly along IL-47. The town still has a small downtown area, with various restaurants and small shops.
Huntley is governed as a village with an elected village president and a six-member board of trustees. Trustees are elected at-large to four-year staggered terms. The village president is Timothy Hoeft.
