The Chief of Chaplains of the United States Navy (CHC) is the highest-ranking military chaplain in the United States Navy and head of the United States Navy Chaplain Corps. As part of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and Department of the Navy, the CHC is dual-hatted as the Director of Religious Ministries (N097) under OPNAV. In these capacities, the CHC is the principal advisor to the secretary of the Navy, the chief of naval operations and, where appropriate, the commandant of the Marine Corps and commandant of the Coast Guard "on all matters pertaining to religion within the Navy, United States Marine Corps, and United States Coast Guard." For administrative and personnel matters, the CHC reports to the chief of naval personnel.
Yvette Marie Davids is a United States Navy vice admiral. She was the first Hispanic American woman to command a navy ship.
Shoshana Simone Chatfield is a United States Navy vice admiral, and served as the president of the Naval War College from 2019 to 2023. She is the first woman to ever hold that position. On February 13, 2023, Rear Admiral Chatfield was nominated for promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral and assignment as the U.S. military representative to the NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 13, 2023.
Gregory Clark Huffman is a United States Navy rear admiral who serves as the commander of Joint Region Marianas since June 21, 2023. He most recently served as commander of Carrier Strike Group 12 from June 2021 to May 2023. Prior to that, he served as director of operations and plans of the Operations, Plans and Strategy Directorate (N3), with command tours including the USS John C. Stennis and USS Green Bay. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1989. Huffman became a rear admiral with Senate confirmation in 2019.
Stephen D. Barnett is an active duty United States Navy officer and career naval flight officer who serves as the commander of Navy Region Hawaii since June 17, 2022, and as the commander of Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill since November 2023. He most recently served as commander of Navy Region Southwest from July 16, 2021 to May 23, 2022, and before that as commander, Navy Region Northwest from March 2021 to June 2021.
Samuel John Paparo Jr. is a United States Navy admiral who served as commander of the United States Pacific Fleet from 2021 to 2024.
John Fredric G. Wade is a United States Navy vice admiral who served as the commander of Joint Task Force - Red Hill from September 12, 2022 to March 28, 2024. He previously served as the director of operations of the United States Indo-Pacific Command from October 2020 to September 2022.
Dennis Velez is a United States Navy rear admiral and surface warfare officer who has served as the director of plans and policy of United States Cyber Command since June 2023. He most recently served as the commander of Carrier Strike Group 10 from April 2022 to May 2023. He previously served as the commander of Navy Recruiting Command from April 2020 to March 2022, and as the senior military assistant to the 76th United States Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer, with tours as commanding officer of the USS San Jacinto (CG-56) and USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62).
Carl Andrew Lahti is a United States Navy rear admiral and submarine warfare officer who is dual-hatted as the 36th commander of the United States Naval Forces Japan and commander of Navy Region Japan since July 14, 2021. As CNFJ/CNRJ, Lahti is responsible for providing shore readiness to U.S. naval forces in Japan and maritime support to the American forward presence in Japan as well as cooperation with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to promote regional stability and deter aggression. He most recently served as the 91st Commandant of Naval District Washington and deputy commander of the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region from June 2018 to June 2021.
Daniel P. Martin is a United States Navy rear admiral and naval aviator who serves as the director of maritime operations of the United States Pacific Fleet. He most recently served as the commander of Carrier Strike Group 1 from May 28, 2021 to May 3, 2022. He previously served as senior military assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs. In earlier command tours, he commanded Carrier Air Wing 8 from June 2015 to 2016 and Strike Fighter Squadron 37 from 2010 to 2011.
Craig A. "Clap" Clapperton is a United States Navy vice admiral and naval flight officer who serves as the commander of U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and the United States Tenth Fleet since August 4, 2022. He most recently served as the commander of Combined Joint Task Force, Cyber from June 30, 2021, to June 7, 2022. He previously served as commander of Carrier Strike Group 12 from May 7, 2020 to June 17, 2021.
Paul C. Spedero Jr. is a United States Navy rear admiral and naval aviator who has served as the vice director for operations of the Joint Staff since June 2023. He most recently served as the commander of Carrier Strike Group 8 from May 31, 2022 to June 1, 2023. Daniel Lyle Cheever is a United States Navy vice admiral who has served as Commander, Naval Air Forces since January 31, 2024. He most recently served as chief of staff of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command from 2022 to 2023. He previously served as the Director of Plans, Policy, and Strategy of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command from 2020 to 2022. He previously served as the Commander of Carrier Strike Group 4. Raised in Downers Grove, Illinois, Cheever earned a Bachelor of Business degree from Western Illinois University in 1986. He joined the Navy in 1988 and, after flight training, was designated a naval aviator in 1990.
Richard Thomas Brophy Jr. is a United States Navy rear admiral and naval aviator who serves as Chief of Naval Air Training since July 19, 2022. He most recently served as commander of Carrier Strike Group 4 from May 17, 2021, to July 8, 2022. He previously served as commander of the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center from May 2019 to May 2021, with commands of Carrier Air Wing 9 from January 2015 to June 2016 and Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 115 from 2007 to 2009.
Michael P. "Buzz" Donnelly is a United States Navy rear admiral and naval flight officer who has served as Director of Air Warfare of the United States Navy since August 3, 2023. He most recently served as the commander of Carrier Strike Group 5 and Task Force 70 from October 2021 to June 2023. He previously served as the 37th commander of United States Naval Forces Korea, concurrently serving as commander of Navy Region Korea and Task Force 78 from April 2019 to September 2021.
