In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), a temple is a building dedicated to be a House of the Lord. Temples are considered by church members to be the most sacred structures on earth.
The LDS Church has 350 temples in various phases, which includes 189 dedicated temples (with 183 operating and 6 previously-dedicated, but closed for renovation), 52 under construction, and 109 others announced (not yet under construction). At present, there are temples in many U.S. states, as well as in many countries across every populated continent of the world.

For many years, the only temple was the Johannesburg South Africa Temple. Now there are several across the continent, with Africa being one of the fastest-growing areas of the church. [1]

In the Latter Day Saint movement, a temple is a building dedicated to being a house of God and is reserved for special forms of worship. A temple differs from a church meetinghouse, which is used for weekly worship services. Temples have been a significant part of the Latter Day Saint movement since early in its inception. Today, temples are operated by several Latter Day Saint denominations. The most prolific builder of temples of the Latter Day Saint movement is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS Church has 350 temples in various phases, which includes 189 dedicated temples, 52 under construction, and 109 others announced. Several others within the movement have built or attempted to build temples. The Community of Christ operates one temple in the United States, which is open to the public and used for worship services, performances, and religious education. Other denominations with temples are the Apostolic United Brethren, the Church of Christ, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the Righteous Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Trujillo Peru Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple was completed in 2015 and is in Trujillo, Peru. At the time of its announcement, on 13 December 2008, the temple was expected to be the second in Peru and the 17th in South America. It serves approximately 88,000 members of the church.
The Barranquilla Colombia Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Puerto Colombia, Colombia.
The Durban South Africa Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Durban, South Africa. The intent to construct the temple was announced by church president Thomas S. Monson on 1 October 2011. The temple was announced concurrently with the Barranquilla Colombia, Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo, Star Valley Wyoming, and Provo City Center temples. When announced, this increased the total number of temples worldwide to 166 and the number in South Africa to two.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints established its first New Zealand branch in 1855. It reported 117,319 members in 228 congregations in New Zealand as of 2022, making it the second largest body of LDS Church members in Oceania behind Australia. The LDS Church has one temple in New Zealand, with a second under construction and a third announced. The 2018 census recorded 54,123 individuals, or 1.2% of respondents, self-identify as belonging to the faith. 313,000 respondents objecting to answer the religion census question in 2018 were not counted in the number or percentages.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cape Verde refers to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members in Cape Verde. At year-end 1989, there were 25 members in Cape Verde. In 2019, there were 16,773 members in 41 congregations. Cape Verde has more LDS Church members per capita than the United States as well more members per capita than any other country outside of Oceania and South America.
The Quito Ecuador Temple is the 175th operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cumbayá, Ecuador, just east of Quito. It is the second temple in Ecuador along with the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple. It was both announced and dedicated on the same day as the Belém Brazil Temple, with the latter being dedicated several hours before. Prior to the announcement of the temple in Quito, Ecuador was the country with the highest number of church members with only one temple.
The Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the San Martin de Porres district, Lima, Peru. The temple was dedicated by D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on January 14, 2024.
The Saratoga Springs Utah Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
The Layton Utah Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under construction in Layton, Utah. The intent to construct the temple was announced by church president Russell M. Nelson on April 1, 2018, during the 188th annual general conference. The Layton Utah Temple was announced concurrently with 6 other temples. At the time, the number of total operating or announced temples was 189. When completed, it will be the 19th temple in Utah and the second temple in Davis County.
