Monarchy of Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a constitutional monarchy in which a monarch is head of state. The present monarch is Elizabeth II, who is also Sovereign of the other Commonwealth realms. The Queen's constitutional roles are mostly delegated to the Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Royal succession is governed by the English Act of Settlement of 1701, which is part of constitutional law.

2010 Saint Kitts and Nevis general election

General elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 25 January 2010 for eleven of the fourteen or fifteen seats in the National Assembly. The other three or four members of the National Assembly will be appointed by the Governor-General after the elections.

Sam Terrence Condor is a Kittitian politician and the former Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis. In the incumbent administration of Denzil Douglas, Condor is also the former Minister of National Security, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Labour, Minister of Immigration and Minister of Social Security. Since the Labour Party gained power in 1995, he has also served as the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly of Saint Kitts and Nevis. On 31 January 2013 Condor resigned as Foreign Minister and left the Government. He later helped establish the People's Labour Party. Contesting constituency 3 on Saint Kitts, he failed to win a seat in the 2015 general elections.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the ministry responsible for handling the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis' external relations and its diplomatic missions abroad. He is Minister of Transport and Minister of Public Works of St. Kitts and Nevis, and a member of the Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. He was appointed deputy prime minister of St. Kitts and Nevis in 2013. Martin trained as a physician in Cuba. He represents the constituency of East Basseterre in the National Assembly of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

2015 Saint Kitts and Nevis general election

General elections were held in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 16 February 2015. The ruling Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Denzil Douglas, was defeated by Team Unity, an alliance of the Concerned Citizens' Movement, the People's Action Movement, and the People's Labour Party, led by Timothy Harris.

The People's Labour Party (PLP) is a political party in Saint Kitts and Nevis led by Timothy Harris. Despite only winning a single seat in the 2015 general elections, Harris became Prime Minister of the country following the elections.
