The Sinda District is a district of Zambia, located in the Eastern Province. [1] It was created in 2012 by taking part of Petauke District and part of Katete District. [2] It consists of two constituencies, namely Sinda and Kapoche.

Sinda was an ancient town mentioned to have been situated on the western frontier of ancient Pisidia, in the neighbourhood of Cibyra and the river Caularis. Stephanus of Byzantium, who spoke of a Sindia as a town of Lycia, was thought to have alluded to the same place. Some writers have confounded Sinda with Isionda, which is the more surprising, as Livy mentions the two as different towns in the same chapter; modern scholars treat them as separate places.

HMS <i>Culver</i> Sloop of the Royal Navy

USCGC Mendota was a Lake-class cutter belonging to the United States Coast Guard launched on 20 June 1928 and commissioned on 23 March 1929. After 12 years of service with the Coast Guard, she was transferred to the British Royal Navy as part of the Lend-Lease Act. She was sunk in January 1942 when struck by two torpedoes fired by the German submarine U-105.
