Mafinga District is one of the seven districts of Muchinga Province in Zambia. The district headquarters is at Thendere. It was named after the Mafinga Hills.

Mafinga District was created in 2011 by splitting the existing Isoka District. [1]

Northern Province, Zambia Province of Zambia

Northern Province is one of Zambia's ten provinces. It covers approximately one sixth of Zambia in land area. The provincial capital is Kasama. The province is made up of 12 districts, namely Kasama District, Chilubi District, Kaputa District, Luwingu District, Mbala District, Mporokoso District, Mpulungu District, Mungwi District, Nsama District, Lupososhi District, Lunte District and Senga Hill District. Mporokoso Place

Mporokoso is a town in the Northern Province of Zambia, lying at an elevation of nearly 1500 m on the flat plateau about 75 km south east of Lake Mweru Wantipa and 100 km south-west of Lake Tanganyika. It is named for Chief Mporokoso a senior chief of the Bemba people whose palace is located at Chishamwamba close to the town. Mporokoso District is also one of the 12 administrative districts of the Northern Province.

Isoka

Isoka is a town located in the Muchinga Province of Zambia near the borders with Tanzania and Malawi.

Mwanga, or Namwanga (Nyamwanga), is a Bantu language spoken by the Mwanga people in the Northern Province of Zambia and in Mbeya Region, Tanzania. The 2010 Zambian census found 140,000 speakers. The current number in Tanzania is unknown; Ethnologue cites a figure from 1987 of 87,000.

Chama, Zambia

Chama is a small town in the Muchinga Province of Zambia, and is headquarters of Chama District. It is one of the most remote district headquarters in the country, lying just inside the eastern edge of the upper Luangwa Rift Valley, at the foot of the highlands dividing Zambia and Malawi. It is served by only one gravel road which comes from Lundazi and the provincial capital of the Eastern Province, Chipata, 300 km to the south. A dirt track connects the town to the South Luangwa National Park 200 km south-west, running parallel to the Luangwa River. A little-used dirt track follows the Malawi border further north and crosses into Isoka District west of the Nyika Plateau. The Road Development Agency is also developing a road from Chama westwards across the Luangwa River to the town of Matumbo, where the road will end at a junction with the T2 Road, Zambia's Great North Road. It is meant to be the 2nd main road out of Chama after the Lundazi-Chipata Route and is meant to provide access for Chama Residents to the headquarters of Muchinga Province, which is Chinsali.

Muyombe is a rural community town on the M14 Road in Mafinga District, a new district east of Isoka, Zambia, and it is the biggest settlement in the region, near the Mafinga Hills. The chiefdom is sparsely populated over an area of 625 square miles.

Mafinga Hills mountain range

The Mafinga Hills are a plateau covered by hills, situated on the border between Zambia and Malawi, in Southern Africa. These hills are composed of quartzites, phyllites and feldspathic sandstones of sedimentary origin.

Isoka District District in Muchinga Province, Zambia

Isoka District is a district of Zambia, located in Muchinga Province. The capital lies at Isoka. As of the 2000 Zambian Census, the district had a population of 99,319 people.

Catherine Namugala a Zambian politician. She is the First Deputy Speaker of the Zambian Parliament. She was nominated to that position by President Edgar Lungu, on 18 September 2016. She is the former Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources in the Zambian Cabinet. She also served as the Member of Parliament (MP), representing Mafinga Constituency in the Zambian Parliament, from 2001 until 2016.

Muchinga Province Province of Zambia

Muchinga Province is one of the ten provinces of Zambia. It is located in the northeast of the country and borders with Tanzania in the north, Malawi in the east, Eastern Province in the south, Central Province in the southwest, Luapula Province in the west, and Northern Province in the northwest. T2 Road (Zambia)

The T2 is a Trunk Road in Zambia. The road runs from the Tunduma border with Tanzania via Mpika, Kabwe and Lusaka to the Chirundu border with Zimbabwe. The road is the longest route of the country, as it is approximately 1155 kilometers.

Chitambo District is a district of Central Province, Zambia. It is one of the recently created districts in Central Province and is located some 357km north-east of Kabwe along the Great North Road. It shares borders with Serenje, Samfya, Lavushimanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Luano District is a district of Central Province, Zambia. It was separated from Mkushi District in 2012.
