1997 Copa América

Bolivia hosted the Copa América for the second time in its 38th edition. It was held from June 11 to 29. It was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body.

Pedro Domingo Murillo Province Province in La Paz Department, Bolivia

Pedro Domingo Murillo is a province in the Bolivian La Paz Department. It was created on January 8, 1838, with the name Cercado and on October 17, 1912, during the presidency of Eliodoro Villazón, its name was changed in honor of Pedro Domingo Murillo, protagonist of the revolution of June 16, 1809.

The 1963 South American Championship was held in Bolivia between 10 and 31 March 1963. It was won by Bolivia with Paraguay second. This is, so far, Bolivia's only Copa America title.

Argentine Declaration of Independence Historical procalamation

What today is commonly referred as the Independence of Argentina was declared on July 9, 1816, by the Congress of Tucumán. In reality, the congressmen who were assembled in Tucumán declared the independence of the United Provinces of South America, which is still today one of the legal names of the Argentine Republic. The Federal League Provinces, at war with the United Provinces, were not allowed into the Congress. At the same time, several provinces from the Upper Peru that would later become part of present-day Bolivia, were represented at the Congress.

Battle of Ingavi

The Battle of Ingavi occurred on November 18, 1841, during the Peruvian-Bolivian War of 1841-1842, in the town of Ingavi, Bolivia. There the Bolivian Army commanded by Jose Ballivian met an invading Peruvian Army commanded by Agustín Gamarra who would later die during the battle.

The 2007 season of Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano was the 50th season of top-tier football in Bolivia. The 2007 annual season had the 35th and the 36th tournament of LFPB's history. The Apertura tournament started on March 6 and finished on June 13. The Clausura tournament was played between August and December. Bolívar and Wilstermann will be defending the championships obtained in the 2006 annual season.

La Copa Aerosur 2009 is the seventh edition of the summer soccer tournament sponsored by Aerosur. Involved six teams of core cities in Bolivia: Bolivar and The Strongest of La Paz, Cochabamba Aurora and Wilstermann, Blooming and Oriente Petrolero of Santa Cruz. The tournament began on January 18, 2009 and culminate on February 4 of that year.

Foreign Minister of Bolivia
