The Port of Zhuhai is the port of the prefecture-level city of Zhuhai,on the west side of the Pearl River estuary in the Chinese province of Guangdong. The Port of Zhuhai is composed of seven main port areas:Gaolan,Wanshan,Jiuzhou,Xiangzhou,Tangjia,Hongwan and Doumen. [1] The main areas are the Jiuzhou Port Area to the east of the city,and the Gaolan Port Area to the west. As of 2012,the port had 131 berths,126 production berths,of which 17 were deep-water berths over 10,000DWT. [2]
The Port had a total cargo throughput of 71,870,000 metric tons (70,730,000 long tons;79,220,000 short tons) in 2012, [3] and surpassed the 100,000,000 t (98,000,000 long tons;110,000,000 short tons) mark in 2013. [4]
The volume of port traffic and urban population make Zhuhai a medium-port metropolis according to the Southampton system of port-city classification. [5]
The Jiujiang Port Area includes a container terminal and a terminal for high-speed ferries connecting Zhuhai with Shenzhen in mainland China and Hong Kong. It is also developing into a transport hub with regular coach services connecting the port with various cities west of the Pearl River such as Jiangmen and Shunde.
Ticketed passengers on flights going to and from Hong Kong International Airport may take ferries from the Zhuhai Ferry Terminal to the HKIA Skypier. [6]
Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Jiuzhou),ZICT(J),located in the city of Zhuhai on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) in the Guangdong Province,adjacent to Macau and 36 nautical miles (67 km) from Hong Kong,commenced operations in 1993. Providing container and general cargo handling services,ZICT(J) operates five multi-purpose berths.
On 10 July 2007,a new ferry service between Jiuzhou port and Skypier in Hong Kong International Airport began. The new service was to have two roundtrip sailings per day and can carry 1,300 passengers,with ferries departing Jiuzhou at 9:30 am and 3:30 pm and leaving the airport at 11:15 am and 5 pm. There were plant to increase frequency to three roundtrip sailings daily by August and four daily by January 2008. [7]
In Spring 2009,refurbishment of the port was completed,with new stores and other facilities for passengers.[ citation needed ]

After a busy ferry has come in, it might be necessary to queue and wait for taxis to return. To the right of the port on the sea wall-lined pavement is a bus stop for buses headed north. The number 99 directly passes the famous "Fisher Girl" statue (symbol of Zhuhai), and has views of the surrounding islands.
Opposite the port is a larger bus terminus where a number of buses run regular services. From here the number 3 restarts its route and heads North past Zhongshan University and Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai Campus, all the way up to Jin Ding. Many other bus routes lead down into the Gongbei (Chinese :拱北; pinyin :Gǒngběi) section of Zhuhai, where the China / Macau Border Crossing is located.
Hong Kong has a highly developed transport network, encompassing both public and private transport. Based on Hong Kong Government's Travel Characteristics Survey, over 90% of daily journeys are on public transport, the highest rate in the world. However, in 2014 the Transport Advisory Committee, which advises the Government on transportation issues, issued a report on the much-worsened congestion problem in Hong Kong and pointed at the excessive growth of private cars during the past 10–15 years.
Transport in Macau includes road, sea, rail and air transport. Road transport is the primary mode of transport within Macau, although a new rail system opened in December 2019 serving the areas of Taipa and Cotai. The main forms of public transport are buses and taxis.
Zhuhai is a prefecture-level city located on the west bank of the Pearl River estuary on the central coast of southern Guangdong province, People's Republic of China, on the southeastern edge of the Pearl River Delta. Its name literally means "pearl sea", which originates from the city's location at the mouth of the Pearl River meeting the South China Sea. Zhuhai borders Jiangmen to the west, Zhongshan to the north and Macau to the southeast, and shares maritime boundaries with Shenzhen and Hong Kong to the northeast across the estuary.

Zhuhai Jinwan Airport, also called Zhuhai Sanzao Airport before 10 January 2013, is the airport serving the city of Zhuhai in South Central China’s Guangdong province. It is located some 50 kilometres (31 mi) southwest of the Zhuhai city center in Sanzao Town, Jinwan District, and 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of the special administrative region of Macau.

Port of Suzhou is the collective name of three ports around the city of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. The three ports are located in Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang, respectively, on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The total cargo throughput of 454 million tons in 2013. As of 2013, it is the busiest inland river port in the world by annual cargo tonnage and container volume, as well as the sixth-busiest port by annual cargo tonnage. The majority of the port trade is in coal, ore, steel, and construction materials such as cement.
The Taipa Ferry Terminal is located in Taipa, Macau SAR. It is located in the reclamation area of Pac On and is adjacent to the Macau International Airport. The terminal provides high-speed passenger ferry services from Macau to Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan.
Skypier Terminal is a cross-border facility that includes a ferry pier and a coach bay integrated within Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is operated by Hong Kong International Airport Ferry Terminal Services Limited, a joint-venture company between Chu Kong Passenger Transport Co., Ltd and Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management Limited. At this building, passengers aboard can transit from Hong Kong International Airport to piers in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province or vice versa, without immigration and customs clearance through Hong Kong. Passengers can also transit to Macao through coaches or vice versa, without immigration and customs clearance through Hong Kong.
Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway or Guangzhu intercity railway is a dedicated, grade-separated regional railway linking Guangzhou South railway station in Panyu, Guangzhou, Jiangmen railway station in Xinhui, Jiangmen, and Zhuhai Jinwan Airport in Zhuhai, via Shunde, Zhongshan and Jiangmen, in Guangdong province. It is the first line completed in the Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region intercity railway network. It is operated by China Railway Guangzhou Group.
Guangzhou–Zhuhai railway is a railway between Jiangcun in Guangzhou and Gaolan Port in Zhuhai, via the cities of Foshan and Jiangmen, in Guangdong, China. Opened at the end of 2012, it is currently used for freight only.
Zhuhai railway station, also known as Gongbei station (拱北站), is an elevated station of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway. It is located in the Gongbei Subdistrict (jiedao) of Xiangzhou in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, besides the Gongbei Port and parallel to the border between mainland China and Macau. The station is the southern terminus of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway and the northern terminus of the Zhuhai–Zhuhai Airport intercity railway.
Humen Ferry Terminal (虎门港澳码头) is a ferry terminal in the Humen Town of Dongguan, in the Southern China's Guangdong province, situated immediately north of Hong Kong. It includes a passenger terminal for high-speed ferries connecting the Humen with Zhuhai and the Skypier at Hong Kong International Airport.
Shekou Ferry Terminal was a ferry port located in Shekou, Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China. It allowed for direct ferry connections from Shenzhen to destinations across the Pearl River Delta. It was operated by China Merchant Shekou Ferry Terminal Service Co., Ltd. It was also known as Shekou Port Ferry Terminal. It was the waterway passenger transportation junction of Shenzhen. Ferry operations were operated by TurboJET and CKS Ferries.
The Port of Wuhan is the natural river port of the sub-provincial city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, People's Republic of China. The port lies at the confluence of the Yangtze and Hanjiang rivers. It is able to handle ocean-going ships of 10,000 DWT. In 2013, it had a throughput of 42.2 million tons of cargo, and 513,229 TEU of containers.
Zhuhai National High-Tech Industrial Development District was established in December, 1992 by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. It is also called Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. It has an initial area of 9.8 square kilometers. Following a 1999 adjustment, it now includes four industrial parks: Nanping (南屏), Sanzao (三灶), Baijiao (白蕉) and Xinqing (新青), and an innovation coast.
Shekou is an area at the southern tip of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. It faces Yuen Long, Hong Kong across the Shenzhen Bay. It has been designated as a Free Trade Zone by the government, alongside Qianhai, Hengqin and Nansha New Area.

It runs direct ferry connections from Shenzhen to destinations across the Pearl River Delta. It is operated by China Merchants Shekou Ferry Terminal Service Co., Ltd. Ferry operations are operated by Xunlong Ferries, TurboJET and CKS Ferries. It can also handle cruise ships docking and replenishment, and is the first cruise terminal in China. This facility replaces the former Shekou Passenger Terminal and is part of a larger urban renewal and redevelopment along Shenzhen Bay.
China Merchants Shenzhen Xunlong Shipping Co. Ltd., otherwise known as Xunlong Shipping or Xunlong Ferries, operates high speed catamaran ferry services from Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It is a part of the China Merchants Group.
