Republican Party candidate and incumbent President Ulysses S. Grant won Wisconsin with 54.60% of the popular vote, winning the state's ten electoral votes. [1]

Horace Greeley was the last Democrat [lower-alpha 1] until Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 to win Buffalo County.
