The Billboard Brasil Hot 100 (formerly Brasil Hot 100 Airplay) is a record chart in Brazil for songs, published weekly by Billboard Brasil magazine. First launched in October 2009, the chart was initially published monthly and measured the airplay of songs on radio stations in Brazil across all music genres, compiled by Crowley Broadcast Analysis. The first number-one song on the chart was "Halo" by Beyoncé. Starting from 2014, it was published weekly. The magazine published the last issue of the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay on January 28, 2019, however, Crowley continued publishing the ranking. Subsequently, the magazine ceased operations for undisclosed reasons.

When Billboard Brasil returned in August 2023, the Brasil Hot 100 chart was relaunched. The new chart is based on online streaming compiled by Luminate. The current number-one as of the chart dated July 1, 2024, is "Gosta de Rua" by Felipe & Rodrigo. [1]

History

The Billboard Brasil magazine was released by BPP Promoções e Publicações LTDA on October 14, 2009. [2] [3] [4] [5] Brazil was the third country to launch a print version affiliated with the American magazine, following Russia and Turkey. [4] [3] [2] The magazine adopted the basic format of the US Billboard , featuring both the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay and Billboard 200 charts, as well as articles about regional and international music, along with regional and international charts. [6] These charts were compiled based on analysis reports from Crowley Broadcast Analysis, which monitored 265 radio stations across the Brazil. [7] The Billboard Brasil magazine ceased publication in January 2015, transitioning to operate solely on its website. The closure of its activities took place in January 2019. [8] [9] On May 15, 2023, it was announced that Billboard Brasil would be relaunched. [10] [9] The magazine returned in August 2023, and the Brasil Hot 100 chart was also reintroduced. [11] [12]

Compilation

A new chart is compiled and officially released by Billboard Brasil on Tuesday, referring to data from the previous week. Chart rankings are based on online streaming of the leading music services in Brazil, determined by a weighted formula that includes official streams only from subscriptions and layers of audio and video services with ad support. All data are provided by Luminate. [12]

"Danza Kuduro" is a Spanish/Portuguese-language song by Puerto Rican recording artist Don Omar and Portuguese–French singer Lucenzo from Don Omar's collaborative album Meet the Orphans. The song is an adaptation of Lucenzo's "Vem Dançar Kuduro", a Portuguese/English song. "Danza Kuduro" was released as the lead single from the album on August 15, 2010, through Machete, VI. It became a hit in most Latin American countries, and eventually all over Europe. "Danza Kuduro" was number one on the Hot Latin Songs, giving Don Omar his second US Billboard Hot Latin Songs number-one hit and Lucenzo his first. A remake of the song is also featured in the 2011 movie Fast Five as an ending song and is on the film's soundtrack album. "Danza Kuduro" ended up being the most successful song with a significant number of verses in European Portuguese of the 2010s. The track ranked 43 on Rolling Stone`s Greatest Latin Pop Songs.

"Talking to the Moon" is a song by American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars from his debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010). The song was first unveiled on Mars's debut extended play, It's Better If You Don't Understand (2010), as its last track. It was written by Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Albert Winkler, and Jeff Bhasker, while production was handled by the Smeezingtons in collaboration with Bhasker. "Talking to the Moon" is a pop and R&B power ballad about a failed relationship, solitude, and sadness. Instrumentally, the track relies on drum percussion and piano.
