Fluocortin butyl (brand names Lenen, Novoderm, Varlane, Vaspit), or fluocortin 21-butylate, is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which is marketed in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, and Italy. [1] [2] Chemically, it is the butyl ester derivative of fluocortin. [1] [2]
It was patented in 1971 and approved for medical use in 1977. [3]
Clobetasol is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which is marketed in Denmark. A propionate ester of clobetasol, clobetasol propionate, has also been marketed, and is far more widely used in comparison.
Isobutylene (or 2-methylpropene) is a hydrocarbon with the formula (CH3)2C=CH2. It is a four-carbon branched alkene (olefin), one of the four isomers of butylene. A colourless flammable gas, it is of considerable industrial value.
Fluorometholone, also known as 6α-methyl-9α-fluoro-11β,17α-dihydroxypregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione, is a synthetic glucocorticoid which is used in the treatment of inflammatory eye diseases. The C17α acetate ester, fluorometholone acetate, is also a glucocorticoid and is used for similar indications. Specifically, it is indicated for use in the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the eye.
sec-Butyl acetate, or s-butyl acetate, is a solvent commonly used as a solvent in lacquers and enamels, where it is used in the production of acyclic polymers, vinyl resins, and nitrocellulose. It is a clear flammable liquid with a sweet smell.
Fluocinolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which was never marketed. The acetonide cyclic ketal of fluocinolone, fluocinolone acetonide, in contrast, has been marketed.
Fluprednidene, also known as fluprednylidene, is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which was never marketed. An acetate ester of fluprednidene, fluprednidene acetate, in contrast, has been marketed.
Prednimustine, sold under the brand names Mostarina and Sterecyst, is a medication which is used in chemotherapy in the treatment of leukemias and lymphomas. It is the ester formed from two other drugs, prednisolone and chlorambucil. Rarely, it has been associated with myoclonus.
Chlorproethazine, sold under the brand name Neuriplege, is a drug of the phenothiazine group described as a muscle relaxant or tranquilizer which is or has been marketed in Europe as a topical cream for the treatment of muscle pain. It has been associated with photoallergic contact dermatitis.
Prothipendyl, also known as azaphenothiazine or phrenotropin, is an anxiolytic, antiemetic, and antihistamine of the azaphenothiazine group which is marketed in Europe and is used to treat anxiety and agitation in psychotic syndromes. It differs from promazine only by the replacement of one carbon atom with a nitrogen atom in the tricyclic ring system. Prothipendyl is said to not possess antipsychotic effects, and in accordance, appears to be a weaker dopamine receptor antagonist than other phenothiazines.
Oxymesterone, also known as methandrostenediolone, as well as 4-hydroxy-17α-methyltestosterone or 17α-methylandrost-4-en-4,17β-diol-3-one, is an orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS). It was known by 1960.
Hydrocortamate is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is used topically to treat inflammation due to corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Triphenylbromoethylene, also known as bromotriphenylethylene or as phenylstilbene bromide, is a synthetic nonsteroidal estrogen of the triphenylethylene group that was marketed in the 1940s similarly to the closely related estrogen triphenylchloroethylene.
Androstenediol dipropionate, or 5-androstenediol 3β,17β-dipropionate, also known as androst-5-ene-3β,17β-diol 3β,17β-dipropionate, is a synthetic anabolic–androgenic steroid and an androgen ester – specifically, the dipropionate diester of 5-androstenediol (androst-5-ene-3β,17β-diol) – which has been marketed in Europe, including in Spain, Italy, and Austria.
Endrisone (INN), or endrysone (USAN), is a synthetic, steroidal glucocorticoid which is or has been marketed in Italy by SIFI. It is used as a topical and ophthalmic anti-inflammatory drug in the treatment of skin and eye conditions, respectively.
Halopredone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which was never marketed.
Prednazoline, a compound of prednisolone phosphate with fenoxazoline, is a synthetic corticosteroid as well as vasoconstrictor and α-adrenergic sympathomimetic.
Prednisolamate, also known as prednisolone 21-diethylaminoacetate, is a synthetic corticosteroid. It is or was a component of Etaproctene, which contains lidocaine, prednisolamate hydrochloride, and tetryzoline.
Ciclometasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid which is marketed in Italy.
Cortobenzolone, also known as betamethasone salicylate, is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and corticosteroid ester which is marketed in Spain.
