At least 12 Israeli citizens have been confirmed to have been killed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine with 11 being soldiers and one being a civilian who was killed by Ukrainian fire while fleeing.
On 20 June 2022, the Russian foreign ministry claimed that nine Israelis fighting with the Ukrainian Army were killed, three left Ukraine and 18 were still remaining. [1]

Casualties in the Russo-Ukrainian War include six deaths during the 2014 annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, 14,200–14,400 military and civilian deaths during the War in Donbas, and up to 500,000 estimated casualties during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Tactical Group "Belarus" is a group of volunteers from Belarus who were involved in the Donbas war. They fought on the side of Ukraine, first as part of the Right Sector Ukrainian Volunteer Corps, and later as part of various formations of the Ukrainian volunteer battalions and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On 24 February 2022, the Russian army attempted to capture Sumy, located near the Russia–Ukraine border. Ukrainian paratroopers and territorial defense forces began engaging Russian forces within the city, resulting in heavy urban fighting and the destruction of a Russian tank column. That evening, Ukraine's paratroopers were ordered to withdraw from the city, leaving the city's defense to the a few thousand local volunteers armed with rifles, limited anti-tank weapons and no armed vehicles or heavy weaponry. After three to four days of failing to enter the city, the Russian military shifted to encircle and bypass the city, and were then subject to guerrilla ambushes.
The Russian occupation of Sumy Oblast was a military occupation that began on 24 February 2022, when Russian forces invaded Ukraine and began capturing parts of the Sumy Oblast. The capital of the Oblast, Sumy, was never captured by Russian forces, however, other cites were captured including Konotop and Trostianets. On 7 April, Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, governor of Sumy Oblast, said that all Russian troops had left the region, but it was still unsafe due to rigged explosives and other ammunition Russian troops had left behind.
Oleksii Oleksandrovych Seniuk was a Ukrainian veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War. He was killed by Russian Armed Forces in the Siege of Chernihiv on 27 February 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Gold Star.

On 18 March 2022, amid the battle for the city of Mykolaiv, during the Russian invansion on Ukraine, Russian Army forces launched an attack on Ukrainian military quarters located at the northern suburbs of Mykolaiv.
