Krasnohorivka is a city in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It is situated west of Donetsk. As of the 2001 census, it has a population of 16,714. In June 2024, as a result of fighting over the city, the population had reportedly decreased to 346. The city has been under Russian occupation since September 2024.
The Donetsk People's Republic is a republic of Russia, comprising the occupied parts of eastern Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast, with its capital in Donetsk.
The ongoing military occupation of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia Oblast by Russian forces began on 24 February 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine as part of the southern Ukraine campaign. It was administrated under a Russian-controlled military-civilian administration until 30 September 2022, when it was illegally annexed to become an unrecognized federal subject of Russia.
The Russian occupation of Kharkiv Oblast, officially the Kharkov Military–Civilian Administration, is an ongoing military occupation that began on 24 February 2022, after Russian forces invaded Ukraine and began capturing and occupying parts of Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. Russian forces failed to capture the capital city of the oblast, Kharkiv. However, other major cities including Izium, Kupiansk, and Balakliia were captured by Russian forces. As of November 2022, Russian forces only occupy a small portion of land in the Kharkiv Oblast.
Spirne is a rural settlement in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It belongs to the Soledar urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.
Masiutivka is a village in Kupiansk Raion, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. During the Russian invasion in 2022, the village was captured early in the war by Russian forces, but was regained by Ukrainian forces likely sometime in early November. On 15 May 2023, a renewed local Russian offensive recaptured the village. Russian forces have maintained control of the village since then, and as of mid-July, have used area surrounding the village as a grouping point to stage attacks with the intent to cross the Oskil.
Levadne is a rural-type settlement in Polohy Raion, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine. Early in the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the settlement was captured by Russian Armed Forces. The town was later retaken by Ukrainian forces on 11 June 2023 during the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive. More than a year later on 13 October 2024, however, the village returned to Russian control after elements of the Russian 336th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade and 394th Motorized Rifle Regiment penetrated the frontlines.
As part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a battle took place between the Russian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for control over the city of Krasnohorivka, 5 kilometers west of Donetsk city. Fighting began on 8 April 2024. By 1 August 2024, Russian forces essentially controlled the whole city aside from the northern outskirts. On 9 September 2024, Russian forces established complete control over the city.
Lyman Pershyi is a village in Kupiansk Raion, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. During the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the village was captured by Russian forces in their initial advance into the nation. The village for a short time returned to Ukrainian control after their successful 2022 Kharkiv counteroffensive in September, but a localized Russian offensive later recaptured the village.
On 10 May 2024, the Russian Armed Forces began an offensive operation in Ukraine's Kharkiv Oblast, shelling and attempting to breach the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the direction of Vovchansk and Kharkiv. The Guardian reported that the offensive has led to Russia's biggest territorial gains in 18 months. By early June the Russian offensive stalled, with The Guardian reporting that the situation on the frontline had been "stabilized." Ukrainian forces then began small-scale counterattacks, which reportedly recaptured its first settlement on 19 June.
Morokhovets is a village in Kharkiv Raion (district) in Kharkiv Oblast of eastern Ukraine, located 31.97 kilometres (19.87 mi) north-northeast (NNE) of the centre of Kharkiv city. It belongs to Lyptsi rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.
Novoselivka Persha is a village in Ocheretyne settlement hromada, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located 28.02 kilometres (17.41 mi) northwest of the centre of Donetsk city.
Novopokrovske is a village in Ocheretyne settlement hromada, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located 26.97 kilometres (16.76 mi) northwest by west (NWbW) of the centre of Donetsk city.

Prohres is a village in Hrodivka settlement hromada, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is currently under Russian occupation. The population was 390 at the 2001 Ukrainian census.
The battle of Toretsk is an ongoing engagement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine between the Russian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for control of the city of Toretsk and the satellite settlements east of it, Pivdenne, Zalizne, Druzhba, Pivnichne, and Shumy, and the settlement south of it, Niu-York, beginning on 18 June 2024. The effort to control the city is part of a renewed effort to capture portions of Donetsk Oblast and, according to a Ukrainian military spokesman, an attempt to flank the highly contested city of Chasiv Yar from the south.
Ivanivka is a village in Hrodivka settlement hromada, Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The population was 669 in the 2001 Ukrainian census.
The Pokrovsk offensive is an ongoing military operation in the Russian invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Armed Forces with the primary goal of capturing the strategic city of Pokrovsk in western Donetsk Oblast. Fighting increased with the Russian advance into and subsequent capture of Prohres on 18 and 19 July 2024, a turning point for the Russian offensive northwest of Avdiivka following the latter's capture in February 2024, and has taken place in numerous settlements east and south of Pokrovsk in Pokrovsk Raion.
