Rajinikanth is an Indian actor. In a career spanning nearly four decades Rajinikanth has won so many awards from numerous associations. He is a seven time recipient of the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards out of which six are under Best Actor category. He also received numerous awards from Cinema Express and Filmfans' Association for his on-screen performances and off-screen contributions. He won his only Filmfare award for Nallavanuku Nallavan in 1984. At the 45th International Film Festival of India (2014), Rajinikanth was conferred with the "Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year".

Petta (transl. Hood) is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film was produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth alongside an ensemble cast featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, M. Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Megha Akash, Malavika Mohanan, Mahendran, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Aadukalam Naren, Munishkanth, and Sananth in supporting roles. The music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander with editing done by Vivek Harshan and cinematography by Tirru. The film revolves around Kaali, a hostel warden crosses paths with a group of criminals where things takes an interesting turn.

<i>Kabali</i> (soundtrack) 2016 soundtrack album by Santhosh Narayanan

Kabali is the soundtrack album, composed by Santhosh Narayanan for the 2016 Indian Tamil-language action crime film of the same name written and directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu, starring Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte and Winston Chao. This album marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Santhosh. The soundtrack album featuring five songs with lyrics written by Kabilan, Vivek, Umadevi and Arunraja Kamaraj was released on 12 June 2016, at Chennai and was also released in Telugu, Hindi and Malay languages. Santhosh Narayanan won the Best Music Director Award at the 2017 Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards. Initially, he was nominated for the Best Music Director – Tamil award at the 2017 Filmfare Awards South, along with Arunraja Kamaraj, for Best Lyricist – Tamil, Best Male Playback Singer – Tamil for the song "Neruppu Da". However, Shweta Mohan won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Tamil for "Maya Nadhi".
