The Hefei–Wuhan railway (simplified Chinese :合武铁路; traditional Chinese :合武鐵路; pinyin :Hé-Wǔ tiělù) is a 250 kilometres per hour (160 mph) high-speed railway in Chinese provinces of Anhui and Hubei, with trains running from Anhui's capital Hefei to Hubei's capital Wuhan. The railway opened on 31 December 2008, high-speed services started on April 1, 2009. [1] at 250 km/h (160 mph) and has been used by Shanghai–Nanjing–Hefei–Wuhan express trains since then.

As of July 2010, scheduling systems showed nine daily D-series express trains running in each direction between Hefei and Wuhan's three train stations (Wuhan, Hankou, and Wuchang), making the trip in 2 hours to 2 hrs 40 min. Another six Shanghai-Wuhan D-series trains passed this section without stopping in Hefei. [2]

This railway is one of the sections of the important east-west route known as the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu High-Speed Railway (ShanghaiHankouChengdu).

The railway uses tunnels when crossing the Dabie Mountains on the Anhui–Hubei border.

The Shijiazhuang–Wuhan high-speed railway, or Shiwu passenger railway, is an 840 km (520 mi) high-speed rail line operated by China Railway High-speed between Shijiazhuang and Wuhan, the provincial capitals of Hebei and Hubei, respectively. Construction commenced in October 2008, with a total investment of 116.76 billion yuan. The design speed is 350 km/h (220 mph). It is part of the Jingguang passenger-dedicated line, a high-speed railway connecting Beijing and Guangzhou, which runs parallel to the older conventional Jingguang Railway.

The Hanyi Railway was completed in spring 2012 and started commercial operations on July 1, 2012. It has a total length of 813 km (505 mi) and runs through Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian province. Construction began on April 27, 2010 and the line was opened on 28 June 2015. The total cost of the line was about ¥109.8 billion. The Shanghai–Chengdu Expressway, designated as G42 and commonly referred to as the Hurong Expressway is an east–west bound expressway that connects the eastern metropolis of Shanghai to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan. The expressway passes through six provinces and serves major cities such as Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan, and Yichang. The eastern terminus of G42 is at the Wuning Road Interchange of Shanghai Middle Ring Road. The Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway, designated as G50 and commonly referred to as the Huyu Expressway is an east-west bound expressway that connects the cities of Shanghai, China in Yangtze River Delta, and Chongqing in western China. The expressway runs through six provinces/municipalities and adjoin major cities such as Wuhu, Anqing, Wuhan and Yichang, roughly parallel to G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway to its south. The Wuhan–Jiujiang railway or Wujiu railway, is a double-track, electrified railroad in central China between Wuhan in Hubei Province and Jiujiang in Jiangxi Province. The line is 258 km (160 mi) long and follows the south bank of the Yangtze River from Wuchang District in Wuhan to Lushan Station in Jiujiang. Major cities and towns along route include Wuhan, Huarong, Huanggang, Ezhou, Huangshi, Daye Yangxin, Ruichang and Jiujiang.

The Hankou–Danjiangkou railway or Handan railway, is a railroad in central China between Wuhan and Danjiangkou in Hubei Province. The line is 411 km (255 mi) long and follows the Han River from Wuhan's Hankou District north to Danjiangkou near the border with Henan Province. The line was built from 1958 to 1966 and double-tracked in 2009. Major cities and towns along route include Wuhan, Anlu, Suizhou, Zaoyang, Xiangyang, Laohekou and Danjiangkou.

Wuhan Railway Hub is one of the four most important railway hubs in the People's Republic of China. The hub centers on Wuhan City, ranges from Wuhan North Railway Station in the north to the Wulongquan Railway Station in the south. Beijing–Guangzhou Railway, Beijing–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong High-Speed Railway and Beijing–Kowloon railway run through the Wuhan metropolitan area in the north–south direction. The Chinese name of the railway line, Huyurong, is a combination of the abbreviations for Shanghai, Chongqing, and Chengdu. It will run in an east-west direction largely parallel to the Yangtze River, connecting the cities of Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu.

The Hefei–Wuhan high-speed railway is a high-speed railway line between Hefei South and Hankou currently under construction in China. The line is 342 kilometres long and has a design speed of 350 kilometres per hour (220 mph). Construction is expected to start in 2022 and be completed in 2027. It will parallel the higher-speed Hefei–Wuhan railway.

The Wuhan–Shiyan high-speed railway is a high-speed passenger-dedicated line (PDL) in Hubei, China. It opened on 29 November 2019, connecting the city of Wuhan with the major automotive manufacturing centre of Shiyan in the northwest of the province.

The Shanghai–Nanjing–Hefei high-speed railway (上海至南京至合肥高速铁路), also known as North Riverside high-speed railway (北沿江高铁), is a high-speed railway line currently under construction in China. The line is 554.6 kilometres long and has a design speed of 350 kilometres per hour (220 mph). It is part of Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu high-speed railway.
