Bluewater is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 116 at the 2020 census, down from 172 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Bluewater is located at 34°10′49″N114°15′2″W / 34.18028°N 114.25056°W / 34.18028; -114.25056 (34.180214, -114.250531). [2]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2). 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) of it (22.0%) is water.

Climate

This area has a large amount of sunshine year round due to its stable descending air and high pressure. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Bluewater has a desert climate, abbreviated "Bwh" on climate maps. [3]

2020

The 2020 United States census reported that Bluewater had a population of 116. The population density was 110.8 inhabitants per square mile (42.8/km2). The racial makeup of Bluewater was 97 (83.6%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 4 (3.4%) Native American, 0 (0.0%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 6 (5.2%) from other races, and 9 (7.8%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10 persons (8.6%)

The whole population lived in households. There were 67 households, out of which 9 (13.4%) had children under the age of 18 living in them, 28 (41.8%) were married-couple households, 3 (4.5%) were cohabiting couple households, 18 (26.9%) had a female householder with no partner present, and 18 (26.9%) had a male householder with no partner present. 28 households (41.8%) were one person, and 14 (20.9%) were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 1.73. There were 32 families (47.8% of all households).

The age distribution was 8 people (6.9%) under the age of 18, 0 people (0.0%) aged 18 to 24, 12 people (10.3%) aged 25 to 44, 42 people (36.2%) aged 45 to 64, and 54 people (46.6%) who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 62.3 years. There were 49 males and 67 females.

There were 424 housing units at an average density of 405.0 units per square mile (156.4 units/km2), of which 67 (15.8%) were occupied. Of these, 62 (92.5%) were owner-occupied, and 5 (7.5%) were occupied by renters. [20] [21]

In the California State Legislature, Bluewater is in the 18th senatorial district , represented by Democrat Steve Padilla, and in the 36th Assembly district , represented by Republican Jeff Gonzalez. [22]

In the United States House of Representatives, Bluewater is in California's 25th congressional district , represented by Democrat Raul Ruiz. [23]
