East Williston is the first station along the Oyster Bay Branch of the Long Island Rail Road, located at Hillside Avenue (NY 25B) and Pennsylvania Avenue on the border between the Incorporated Villages of East Williston and Williston Park, in Nassau County, New York.

History

East Williston's station house opened in February 1880 by the Glen Cove Branch Rail Road.^[3]^[4]^[5] It originally contained a freight house and wooden platform shelters that were closed during the mid-20th century.^[5] The third rail was installed from Mineola to East Williston in June 1934; there were originally plans to electrify the entire Oyster Bay Branch – however, this did not occur.^[4]^[5] East Williston was also a more convenient and less busy location for turning back electric trains to Mineola – a service since made redundant by subsequent extensions of the electrification to Hicksville and points east.^[4]

The canopies surrounding the station house began to sag by 1960.^[5] That same year, the LIRR considered closing both the East Williston station and the Albertson station, and combining the two stations in between the current existing ones; the project also would have eliminated the grade crossing with Hillside Avenue (NY 25B), adjacent to the station.^[5]^[6] However, after a great deal of community opposition, those plans were shelved, and East Williston's canopies were restored between 1965 and 1966.^[5]^[6]

High level platforms were added to the station in December 1982.^[5]^[7] These projects did little to keep the station house in stable condition, and it was closed on December 10, 1996.^[5] Since then, it has operated as little more than a pair of sheltered high-level platforms with ticket vending machines and accessible ramps. Efforts to preserve the original station house failed when it was found to be too structurally unstable, and it was razed on December 11, 2004.^[5] Some in the community have been considering building a whole new version of the original station house, but have instead opted for a decorative open-air shelter.^[5]^[8]

New York State Route 25B (NY 25B) is a 7.25-mile (11.67 km) east–west state highway located on Long Island in New York, United States. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with NY 25 in Queens. The eastern terminus is at an interchange with NY 25 in Westbury, Nassau County. NY 25B is named Hillside Avenue for its entire length, except for a 0.69-mile (1.11 km) portion in the village of East Williston, where it is called East Williston Avenue and owned & maintained by Nassau County as the unsigned County Route 85.

The Mineola Intermodal Center is an intermodal center and transportation hub in the village of Mineola, New York. It contains the Mineola Long Island Rail Road station – one of the railroad's busiest stations – in addition to one of the Nassau Inter-County Express bus system's main hubs, located adjacent to the southern train platform.

The Babylon station is a station on the Long Island Rail Road in the village of Babylon, New York at Railroad Avenue west of Deer Park Avenue. It is on the Montauk Branch and is the eastern terminus of the Babylon Branch service. To the west is the junction with the Central Branch, which heads northwest to join the Main Line at Bethpage Interlocking southeast of the Bethpage station. Babylon station is elevated with two island platforms and is wheelchair accessible through elevator access. The electrified portion of the Montauk Branch ends east of the station.

Westbury is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line. All trains for the Port Jefferson Branch and Ronkonkoma Branch run through it, though only some trains on the Port Jefferson branch stop. It is located at Union and Post Avenues in Westbury, New York. It is 23.4 miles (37.7 km) from Penn Station. The station is fully wheelchair accessible. It has two side platforms and three tracks.

The Main Line is a rail line owned and operated by the Long Island Rail Road in the U.S. state of New York. It begins as a two-track line at Long Island City station in Long Island City, Queens, and runs along the middle of Long Island about 95 miles (153 km) to Greenport station in Greenport, Suffolk County. At Harold Interlocking approximately one mile east of Long Island City, the tracks from the East River Tunnels and 63rd Street Tunnel into Manhattan intersect with the Main Line, which most trains use rather than continuing to Long Island City station.

Westwood is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's West Hempstead Branch serving the villages of Malverne and Lynbrook, New York. The station platform is located on Foster Avenue in Malverne, with parking facilities on both the Malverne and Lynbrook sides of the tracks. It has no station building other than a pair of open shelters, the larger one on the Malverne side of the tracks. It also features a gated at-grade pedestrian crossing, one of only a few stations on the Long Island Rail Road to feature such crossings.

West Hempstead is the terminal station at the east end of the Long Island Rail Road's West Hempstead Branch serving West Hempstead, New York, United States. It is located at Hempstead Avenue and Hempstead Gardens Drive.

Medford is a station in the hamlet of Medford, New York on the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road. Medford is located on New York State Route 112 between Peconic Avenue and Long Island Avenue. Access to the station is available from a narrow curving roadway leading off Route 112. This roadway used to connected with the Ohio Avenue intersection until Ohio Avenue was closed north of Peconic Avenue in 2007. It is also accessible from the north end of Oregon Avenue, although the Medford Fire Department periodically closes the Oregon Avenue access road for drills or other exercises.

Hollis is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line at the intersection of 193rd Street and Woodhull Avenue in the Hollis neighborhood of Queens, New York City. With a few exceptions, only trains on the Hempstead Branch stop here.

Roslyn is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Oyster Bay Branch. It is located at Lincoln Avenue and Railroad Avenue, west of Roslyn Road and south of Warner Avenue, in Roslyn Heights, in Nassau County, New York.

Albertson is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Oyster Bay Branch. The station is on the north side of I.U. Willets Road at Albertson Avenue on the Albertson–Roslyn Heights border, in Nassau County, New York. The parking lot is located on the south side of I.U. Willets Road. Bay Shore is a major railroad station on the Montauk Branch of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), on Park Avenue and Oak Street north of Suffolk CR 50 and west of Fourth Avenue, in Bay Shore, New York. Ferries to Fire Island board from a port south of the station.

Carle Place is a station along the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). It is served by trains on the Port Jefferson Branch at all times while most Ronkonkoma Branch trains and all Montauk Branch trains bypass the station. It is located at Cherry Lane and Atlantic Avenue in Carle Place, New York.
