Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMinna) is a Federal Government owned University located in Minna, Nigeria. [2] [3]
FUT Minna specializes in technological education and offers bachelor's and master's degrees in various technology-inclined fields. [4] The University is a designated Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and has a core competence in the development of vaccines and drugs, and also small arms design in partnership with the Armed Forces of Nigeria. [5]
FUT Minna was founded in 1983, and the first Vice-Chancellor was Professor J.O. Ndagi who served from 1983 to 1990. The governing bodies are the Council and the Senate. In the beginning, the University took over the facilities of the former Government Teachers' College Bosso, for use permanently. This site now serves as the Bosso Campus of the University. The main campus Gidan Kwano which is situated on 10,650 hectares of land is located along the Minna - Kataeregi - Bida Road. The Institution is listed in the Guide to Higher Education in Africa, Association of African Universities and the International Association of Universities, 1999.[ citation needed ]
The University Library was established in 1984 and is known as the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Library. [6] The library is subscribed to many databases with over 80,000 collections of printed books, journals and other materials to enhance teaching, learning and research of the university community. The Information technology service unit has over 350 computers with internet connectivity that provide access to electronic resources. The present University Librarian is Dr. Katamba Abubakar Saka. The branch library is located in Bosso Campus for supporting services such as Reference service and the library is called Auwal Ibrahim Library. [6] All these units are grouped into three departments for effective services.

As part of its overall fitness program, the university includes a floodlit sports arena on both campuses, athletics cinder tracks, badminton indoor courts, basketball courts, table tennis facilities, volleyball courts, football pitches, a fitness gymnasium, extensive pedestrian walkways, a 9-hole golf course and a student recreation centre.
The student-run radio station Search FM 92.3 Campus radio started official transmission in August 2010. Unfortunately, the radio station was gutted by fire in 2013. As of now, the radio station has a new building and a fully equipped studio which was commissioned in 2014 by the Vice Chancellor. [19]

Al-Hikmah University is an Islamic university located in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. It was founded in 2005 by AbdulRaheem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation (AROIF) based in Nigeria and World Assembly of Muslim Youths (WAMY) based in Jeddah. Muhammed Taofeek Olalekan Ibrahim is the immediate past Vice-chancellor. He was succeeded by Noah Yusuf who is now the current Vice-chancellor. The goal of Al-Hikmah University is to be a center of intellectual and moral excellence.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987, so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration, in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.

Ibrahim Khalil Umar was a Nigerian scientist and university administrator. He was Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria from 1979 to 1986. He holds a B.Sc. in physics and mathematics from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria, a M.Sc. in physics from Northern Illinois University, USA and a Ph.D. (1974) in physics at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. In 1976 he became the first Nigerian academic in physics to teach at Bayero University. In 1978 he served on the national constitutional assembly that drafted the Constitution of the 2nd Republic.
University of Ilorin, also known as UNILORIN, is a federal government-owned public-research university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. The university's main campus sits on an expansive area of land, about 15,000 hectares in the ancient city of Ilorin; making it the largest university in Nigeria and one of the largest in Africa by landmass. The university comprises 17 faculties and over 100 academic departments. It was established by a decree of the Federal Military Government of Nigeria in August, 1975. The establishment aimed to implement one of the educational directives of the Third National Development Plan, which was aimed at providing more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to acquire university education and to generate high-level manpower, which is vital for the rapidly expanding economy.
