Five city council seats (District 1, District 3, District 5, District 8, and District 9) and the Mayor had regular elections, in addition to a special election in District 4. All positions are nominally non-partisan, though most candidates choose to affiliate with a party given Austin's strong Democratic lean.
A special election was held on January 25, 2022, for City Council District 4, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of longtime councilor Greg Casar, who resigned to run for U.S. Congress in District 35. Jose "Chito" Vela won the special election outright with 59.2% of the vote.

On November 8, 2022, Stephanie Bazan and Ryan Alter advanced to a runoff. Alter went on to defeat Bazan in the runoff election, in what was widely seen as an upset victory. [5]

"The issuance of $350,000,000 in tax-supported general obligation bonds and notes for planning, designing, acquiring, constructing, renovating, improving and equipping affordable housing facilities for low and moderate income persons and families, and acquiring land and interests in land and property necessary to do so, funding loans and grants for affordable housing, and funding affordable housing programs, as may be permitted by law; and the levy of a tax sufficient to pay for the bonds and notes." The 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in Texas were held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, to elect the 36 U.S. representatives from the state of Texas—an increase of four seats in reapportionment following the 2010 United States census. The elections coincided with the elections of other federal and state offices, including a quadrennial presidential election and an election for the U.S. Senate. The primary election had been scheduled to be held on March 6, 2012, with a runoff election on May 22; because of problems arising from redistricting, the primary was postponed to May 29, and the run-off to July 31.

St. Petersburg, Florida, held an election for mayor on August 24, 2021. Incumbent Democratic mayor Rick Kriseman was term-limited and could not seek a third term in office. Municipal elections in St. Petersburg are officially nonpartisan. All candidates appeared on the same primary ballot, and because no candidate garnered at least 50% of the vote, the top two vote-getters advanced to a runoff election on November 2, 2021. Former Pinellas County commissioner Ken Welch easily defeated city councillor Robert Blackmon in the runoff and became the first black mayor of St. Petersburg.
The 2022 elections for the Florida State Senate took place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to elect state senators from all 40 districts.
