Miss Grand Malaysia 2024 was the 9th edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held on 22 August 2024 at the Galaxy Banque, HGH Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. [1] [2] Twelve candidates, who qualified for the national final through the state pageant in Sabah and the national audition in Kuala Lumpur, competed for the title. [3] Of whom a 25-year-old Chinese-Indian television personality from Selangor, Melisha Lin, was announced the winner. [3] [4] Melisha will represent Malaysia in the international parent stage, Miss Grand International 2024, [5] [4] to be finalized in Thailand on October 25, 2024. [6] [7]
The event was co-organized by the Miss Grand Malaysia license holder HyperLive Entertainment and a private-firm event organizer SunStrong Entertainment. [1] It was broadcast on the organizer's YouTube channel. Miss Grand International 2023, Luciana Fuster of Peru, and the vice president of Miss Grand International, Teresa Chaivisut, also presented at the event. [1] [8]
In December 2023, the organizer of Miss Grand Malaysia, HyperLive Entertainment, released an official document mentioning that the 2024 national edition was set for Kuala Lumpur in June 2024; [5] [9] however, it was rescheduled to August 2024 for unknown reasons. [10] [11] [8] The Galaxy Banque Hall was selected as the grand final venue, according to the official reveal made on August 17, 2024. [1]
Only the state of Sabah organized the local pageant to elect representatives for this year's national contest, as detailed in the table below. [10] [11] The remaining contestants were directly chosen by the national licensee through online procedures.

Miss Malaysia is a national beauty pageant in Malaysia.
Miss Universe Malaysia is an annual national beauty pageant and an organization that selects Malaysia's representative to the annual Miss Universe contest. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify, a runner-up is sent.
Miss Universe Malaysia 2017, the 51st edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 23 February 2017 at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Samantha James of Kuala Lumpur of was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Kiran Jassal of Selangor at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas, United States.
Miss World Malaysia 2016, the 50th edition of the Miss World Malaysia pageant, was held at the Corus Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on August 28, 2016. Brynn Zalina Lovett of Sabah crowned her successor Tatiana Kumar from Kuala Lumpur at the end of the contest. Twenty contestants from all across Malaysia competed for the crown. Tatiana represented Malaysia at Miss World 2016.
Miss Malaysia Universe 1978, the 12th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 18 May 1978 at the Merlin Hotel, Penang. Yasmin Yusoff of Kuala Lumpur was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Leong Li Ping of Penang at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 1978 pageant in Mexico City, Mexico.
Miss Malaysia Universe 1979, the 13th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 28 April 1979 at the Merlin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Irene Wong of Pahang was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Yasmin Yusoff of Kuala Lumpur at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 1979 pageant in Perth, Australia.
Miss Universe Malaysia 2020, the 54th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 5 September 2020 at Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Francisca Luhong James of Sarawak was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Shweta Sekhon of Kuala Lumpur at the end of the event. She represents Malaysia at Miss Universe 2020 pageant held in Hollywood, Florida, United States.
Miss Malaysia Universe 1973, the 7th edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held at the Merlin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Margaret Loo of Selangor was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Helen Looi of Penang at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 1973 pageant in Athens, Greece.
Miss World Malaysia 2021, the 53rd edition of the Miss World Malaysia pageant was held virtually on October 16, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Miss Grand Malaysia is an annual female beauty pageant in Malaysia, founded by a Penang-based businessperson Anson Chong in 2013, aiming to select the country representative for Miss Grand International, which is an annual international beauty pageant promoting World Peace and against all kinds of conflicts. During 2015 to 2021, the contest was run by Introducing Talent Sdn Bhd, under the leadership of Jude Benjamin Lisa. Since 2022, the franchise has belonged to the Singapore-based start-up HyperLive Entertainment.
Miss Grand Malaysia 2022 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on August 27, 2022. Seven candidates, who qualified for the national stage through an audition performed earlier in June, competed for the title. Of whom a 27-year-old Malaysian-Chinese model and content creator from Selangor, Charissa Chong, was named the winner, while Vivienna Alfred from Sarawak and Angela Quah from Johor Bahru were announced the first and second runners-up, respectively. Charissa later represented the country at the international parent edition, Miss Grand International 2022, held in Indonesia on October 25, but she was unplaced.
Miss Grand Malaysia 2021 was the sixth edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held virtually via Facebook Live on August 2, 2021. Twenty-three candidates, who qualified for the national pageant either through state pageants or national auditions, competed for the title, and a 24-year-old architecture student from Selangor, Lishallinny Kanaran, was named the winner, while Malveen Kaur of Johor Bahru and Poorani Rajoo of Kuala Lumpur won the supplementary titles of The Miss Globe Malaysia 2021 and Miss Intercontinental Malaysia 2021, respectively. Lishallinny later represented Malaysia in its parent international pageant, Miss Grand International 2021, in Thailand, where she was placed among the top 10 finalists and also won the Best National Costume award.
Miss Grand Malaysia 2023 was the eighth edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held on August 14, 2023, in the Zodiac Theatre on the 7th floor of the Genting Dream Cruise. Eleven candidates competed for the title, of whom a 21-year-old actress and model from Selangor, Kash Bhullar, was announced the winner and won the prize of RM15,000 in cash and jewelry worth RM 25,000. Kash later represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant, held in Vietnam on October 25 of that year, but she was unplaced.

Miss Grand Malaysia 2019 was the fourth edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held on April 28, 2019, at the Meritz Hotel, Miri, Sarawak. Twenty-three candidates, who qualified for the national stage through the state pageant or national audition, competed for the title.
Miss Grand Malaysia 2020 was the fifth edition of the Miss Grand Malaysia pageant, held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eighteen candidates who qualified for the national round experienced several interview processes and public votes to determine the final winner, of whom a 25-year-old, of mixed Indian and Chinese ancestry, from Kuala Lumpur, Jasebel Robert, has been named Miss Grand Malaysia 2020 in the final round on January 28, 2021.
