Miss Grand Egypt is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Egyptian representatives competing at the Miss Grand International contest. [1] [2] [3] The title was first awarded in 2013 when a Cairo-based pharmacist, Aya Abdallah Ahmed, was assigned by the Miss Grand Egypt licensee, Amal Rezk, to represent Egypt in the inaugural edition of Miss Grand International in Thailand. [4] Amal Rezk is also the director of a national pageant of Miss Egypt, [2] [3] and another international platform, Miss Eco International  [ id ]. [5]

Since the first competition in 2013, Egyptian representatives have never been placed in Miss Grand International. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

History

Egypt joined Miss Grand International for the first time in 2013 and was represented by an appointed representative, Aya Abdallah Ahmed; [4] however, she was unplaced on the international stage held in Thailand. [6] From 2013 to 2021, the right to send Egyptian candidates to compete at Miss Grand International belonged to the director of Miss Egypt pageant, Amal Rezk, [1] [2] [3] and the representatives were either directly hand-picked or determined through such a national contest. [1] [2] [3] [11]

In 2021, one of the Miss Egypt 2021 winners was expected to compete at Miss Grand International 2022 in Indonesia, [12] but no representative was elected, [13] due to the termination of the partnership between Miss Grand International (MGI PLC) and Miss Egypt after the Miss Grand Thailand-affiliated representative, Juthamas Mekseree, who was assigned to compete at the Egypt-based Miss Eco International 2021  [ id ] which was also managed by Amal Rezk, together with other 8 country representatives were infected by COVID-19 during pageant activities and were left without proper management. Miss Iraq in America was an annual beauty pageant, first held in 2013. The competition was supervised by Yalla Fan, an artistic production company founded by Iraqi Assyrian Joe Rasho. Contestants were required to be unmarried women of Iraqi descent residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 27.

Miss Grand Ethiopia is a national beauty pageant title awarded to Ethiopian representatives competing at the Miss Grand International contest. From 2013 to 2018, the license belonged to the national contest of the Miss Ethiopia pageant, but most of the country representatives were appointed instead of directly determined through such a national pageant. The contract between Miss Ethiopia and Miss Grand International was discontinued in 2019, and no other Ethiopian body renewed the license, resulting in no Ethiopian representatives on such an international stage since then.

Miss Grand Lebanon is a female beauty pageant title awarded to Lebanese representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant. The title was first awarded in 2013 to a Canadian Lebanese model, Elizabeth Ojeil, after competing at the Miss Earth Canada 2023 pageant in late-August 2013 and finishing as the top 8 finalists. Ojeil later became the licensee of Miss Grand Lebanon the following year.

The fifth edition of the Miss Grand International pageant was held at the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort and Villas Convention Hall, Phú Quốc, Vietnam on October 25, 2017, in which candidates from 77 countries and territories participated. These candidates were elected as the country representatives through different methods, such as through the Miss Grand National which was held to select the country representative for Miss Grand International specifically, or appointed by another national pageant organizer, in which the main winner was sent to compete on other international stages. Some of them were assigned as the representatives without competing at any national pageant in this particular year.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand International 2013</span> 1st Miss Grand International Competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand International 2013 was the first edition of the Miss Grand International pageant, held on 19 November 2013 at the IMPACT Arena in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, Thailand. Contestants from seventy-one countries and territories competed for the title, of whom the representative of Puerto Rico, Janelee Chaparro, was announced the winner and received a reward of 30,000 USD in cash. Meanwhile, the representatives of Australia, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, and Slovakia were named the runners-up.
