Miss Grand Cambodia 2022 was the eighth edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia beauty contest, held on 27 August 2022 at the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. [1] [2] [3] Miss Grand Cambodia 2021 Pokimtheng Sothida crowned her successor, Saravody Pich Votey at the end of the event. [4]

Delegates from twenty-five provinces and three cities of Cambodia, as well as Cambodian communities in seven countries, competed for the title, [5] of which, the representative of Preah Sihanouk province, Saravady Pich Votey, was announced the winner, [6] and will represent the country at Miss Grand International 2022. [1] [7]

The eighth edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia beauty contest was scheduled to be held on 27 August 2022. The press conference of the contest will be conducted in Phnom Penh. [1]

Selection of participants

Applications for Miss Grand Cambodia started on 7 May and applications ended on 15 July. The official press presentation for Miss Grand Cambodia 2022 will be held on 25 July 2022. Miss Grand Cambodia this year for the first time, is officially allowing international countries to participate with debuting countries Canada, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam to participate whereas Australia, France and United States to return from the 2020 edition of Miss Grand Cambodia. [1]

The crown

A new crown will be used to award the winner of the Miss Grand Cambodia pageant for the 2022 edition. The crown costs US$250,000 (KHR 1,019,513,000 ៛). [1] [2] Extra crowns will be awarded to the runners-up, but this time the runners up will be sent to other international pageants. The winner will be sent to Miss Grand International 2022, the 1st runner-up will be sent to Miss Earth 2022, the 2nd runner-up will be sent to Miss Global for 2023, the 3rd runner-up will be sent to Miss Interglobal for 2023 and the 4th runner-up will be sent to Miss Polo International for 2023. Yeay Mao or Lok Yeay Mao is an ancient mythical heroine and a neak ta divinity in the local popular form of Buddhism and Brahmanism in Cambodia. She is venerated mainly as the guardian of coastal provinces of the country. She is venerated especially along the road from Phnom Penh to the sea port of Sihanoukville, as well as in Kampot, Koh Kong, and Kep. At the Bokor Mountain in Kampot there is a 29 meters tall monument to Yeay Mao inaugurated in 2012, while there is a young version of Yeay Mao in the Kep Beach called Beautiful Lady (ស្រីស្អាត) or Sela waits for her husband (សិលាចាំប្តី), but that belongs to the legend of Mao looking to the west for her lost husband. She is considered the protector of travelers, hunters, and fishermen. Drivers still stop at her shrine along National Road 4 near Phnom Pech Nil to pay their respects and wash their cars with water from the stream nearby, as well as the monument at Bokor. In 2023, after a surge of car accidents on the Phnom Penh- Preah Sihanouk’s expressway, the government decided to built a shrine for her at Sre Ambil station for travelers to stop along and pray.

Miss Cambodia is a national Beauty pageant in Cambodia which also selects other winners to participate in big beauty pageants like Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth. The Miss Cambodia Organization also selects the other winners to participate in small pageants like Miss Asia Pacific International, and Miss Tourism International.

Twenty-three contestants, who qualified for the national contest through online screening, competed for the title, of whom a 19-year-old nursing student from Phnom Penh, Heng Chantha, was named the winner, and was expected to represent the country at the Miss Grand International 2016 pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, however, her visa application was rejected by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement caused her to withdraw from the competition.

Miss Grand Cambodia 2021 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia beauty pageant, held at the AEON Mall, Sen Sok City in Phnom Penh, on October 10, 2021. Twenty-five contestants, who qualified for the national contest through online screening, competed for the title, of whom a 23-year-old nursing student Miss City Tourism and Miss-Asia Pacific International Cambodia former from Battambang, Sothida Pokimtheng, was named the winner. She later represented Cambodia in the Miss Grand International 2021 held that year in Thailand on December 4, where she placed among the top 10 finalists and also won the Miss Popular Vote awards.

Miss Grand Cambodia 2023 was the ninth edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia beauty pageant, held on 19 August 2023 in Koh Pich Theatre, Phnom Penh. Twenty-five candidates, who qualified for the national pageant through an online profile screening performed in April, competed for the title. At the end of the event, Pich Votey Saravody of Preah Sihanouk crowned Phoem Sreynor of Phnom Penh as her successor. Phoem Sreynor later represented Cambodia in Miss Grand International 2023, held in Vietnam on October 25, but was unplaced.

Sotima John is a Cambodian model and beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Universe Cambodia 2023 and represented Cambodia at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant in San Salvador, El Salvador.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pich Sambath</span> Kun khmer fighter and Kickboxer

Pich Sambath is a Cambodian lightweight kickboxer and Kun Khmer fighter. As born in a poor family, Sambath sees Kun Khmer as a good career for his life. He starts training Kun Khmer in 2020 at Pich Sophann 8888 Kun Khmer Gym and his coach is Mr. Pich Sophann, a former Kun Khmer fighter. Currently his weight fighting range is 57 kg-60 kg.

Miss Grand Cambodia 2024 was the 10th edition of the Miss Grand Cambodia pageant, held in Koh Pich Theater in Phnom Penh on 12 July 2024. Contestants from 25 provinces and autonomous municipality of Cambodia competed for the title. At the end of the event, Phoem Sreynor of Phnom Penh crowned Sotheary Bee of Kampong Chhnang as her successor. Sotheary Bee will represent the country at the international parent stage, Miss Grand International 2024, to be finalized on October 25, 2024, in Thailand.

Sreyneath Reth (Khmer: រ៉េត ស្រីនាថ; is a Cambodian model, actor and beauty pageant titleholder who won the Miss Cosmo World Cambodia 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She also appeared in the film First They Killed My Father.

Miss Universe Cambodia 2024 is the 8th edition of the Miss Universe Cambodia pageant, held on August 29, 2024, at Camwood CTN in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
