Miss Grand Nepal 2018 was the second edition of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, held on August 4, 2018, at the Hotel Gurkha Heritage in Kathmandu. [1] [2] Ten contestants, who qualified through the audions held countrywide, competed for the title, [2] of whom a 26-year-old media personality from Kathmandu, Urussa Joshi, was named the winner, [1] [3] [4] and received रु50,000 rupee cash and a Suzuki scooter as the prize, [1] while the first and the second runners-up, Eksha Maden of Dhangadhi and Riya Gaihre of Lalitpur, obtained cash of रु30,000 and रु20,000 rupee, respectively. [1] Urussa Joshi then represented Nepal at Miss Grand International 2018 held later that year on October 25 in Myanmar, [1] [5] [6] but she got a non-placement. [7]

Background

After the RK Entertainment Group took over the competition license of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant from Looks Entertainment in late 2017, the organization announced the launch of the 2018 edition in mid-2018, with the first phase auditions happening in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Nawalparasi, and Dharan, [2] [9] and then all qualified candidates were finalized to ten in the final audition round in Kathmandu. [9] [10] The whole process of the audition was conducted from May 12 to June 9. [11] A press conference was held on May 10, 2018, at the Royal Empire Hotel in Kathmandu, wherein the organizer revealed the details related to the contest. [11]

The auditions started on May 12 in Pokhara, then moved to Chitwan on May 14, to Butwal on May 16, and then to Dharan on May 18, [9] [11] while an online application was given a June 8 deadline. All qualified candidates were additionally narrowed to ten in the final audition held on June 9 in Kathmandu, [9] [11] and the national final is scheduled for August 4, at the Hotel Gurkha Heritage. Miss Nepal 2012 Shristi Shrestha crowned her successor Ishani Shrestha as Miss Nepal World 2013, she represented Nepal at Miss World 2013 pageant. Rojisha Shahi was chosen as Miss Nepal Earth 2013 and was sent to Miss Earth 2013 competition. Miss Universe Nepal 2022 is the 3rd annual Miss Universe Nepal beauty pageant, held on 25 August 2022. At the end of the event, Sujita Basnet crowned Sophiya Bhujel as her successor. She is set to represent Nepal in the Miss Universe 2022.

Miss Grand Nepal is an annual female beauty pageant in Nepal, founded in 2016 by a Kathmandu-based businessperson Sazum Katwal of Looks Entertainment, aiming to select the country representative to compete at its parent international pageant Miss Grand International. The license of the contest was later transferred to RK Entertainment Group and Izodom Nepal & Cosmo Group in 2017 and 2019, respectively. However, even lost the contest license in 2019, the RK group has held the Miss Grand national contest annually to select the delegates for other international contests since then. Currently, the contest licensed by the Thai-parent platform was managed by Suresh Tamang.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand Nepal 2022</span> Beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand Nepal 2022 was the sixth edition of Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, co-organized by Izodom Nepal, Cosmo Group, and Bolly Club Group, held on 10 September 2022 at Hotel Shanker in Kathmandu. Fourteen national candidates, directly chosen by the central organizer through an online application and the audition round, competed for the title, of whom, Aishworya Shrestha from Bagmati Province was named the winner and then represented the country at Miss Grand International 2022 held on October 25, in Indonesia, but she got a non-placement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand Nepal 2016</span> 1st Miss Grand Nepal competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand Nepal 2016 was the first edition of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, held on August 23, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kathmandu, organized by Mero Looks and Revolution Pvt. Ltd. Ten national aspirants competed for the title, of whom a 24-year-old Mass communication student from Kathmandu, Zeenus Lama, was named the winner, and received रु50,000 Rupee cash as the prize while the first and second runners-up, Pooja Shrestha of Lalitpur and Jyotsana Maharjan of Bharatpur, obtained रु25,000 and रु10,000 Rupee, respectively. The event was attended by Claire Parker, Miss Grand International 2015, and the Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, Vutti Vuttisant.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss Grand Nepal 2020</span> 4th Miss Grand Nepal competition, beauty pageant edition

Miss Grand Nepal 2020 was the third edition of the Miss Grand Nepal beauty pageant, held on August 13, 2020, at the Mojo Boutique Hotel in Baneshwor, Kathmandu. Ten contestants competed for the title, of whom a 21-year-old medical student from Kathmandu, Ambika Joshi Rana, was named the winner and crowned by Miss Grand Nepal 2019, Nisha Pathak. She then represented Nepal on the parent stage, Miss Grand International 2020, held in Thailand on March 27, 2021, but she went unplaced.
